Liga Republika is back with more on the line. Riot Games Philippines recently announced that the country’s premier League of Legends tournament this year is now the official qualifier for Filipino players to earn a slot in the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) Wildcard Playoffs. This marks a game-changing opportunity for Pinoy talent to rise from national competition to the global eSports stage. Liga Republika was first unveiled in 2024 by Riot Games Philippines as a league made by Pinoys for Pinoy League of Legends players. The tournament aims to elevate the competitive gaming and esports scene in the country, and has since set the stage for sustainable competition and grassroots opportunities.
Liga Republika: A Direct Path To LCP Wildcard
The establishment of the LCP, the top-tier regional league for the Asia Pacific, in 2024 has birthed a new promotion and relegation system, redefining this year’s LoL eSports across the region. In the Philippines, Liga Republika 2025 is a definitive battleground for Filipino players to rise from domestic to international play. The eligible champion of this year’s local tournament will earn a direct slot to represent the Philippines in the LCP Wildcard Playoffs where they will face top teams from other domestic leagues such as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India, and South Asia — all vying for a spot in the LCP’s Promotion and Relegation (P&R) tournament. This revamped structure rewards competitive merit over invitation, and gives aspiring teams the opportunity to rise from grassroots to pro play. For Filipino teams, the path is clear: the eligible Champion team of Liga Republika can advance to the LCP Wildcard Playoffs, then fight for a spot in the P&R Tournament for a chance to place in the LCP. “From the start, Liga Republika was built to be a sustainable competitive platform for local players to showcase their grit, resilience, and pride. For years, the community has been hungry for a real path to international play. With the direct linking of Liga Republika to the LCP ecosystem, we’re proud to finally make that a reality and take a big step forward for Philippine LOL eSports,” said Riot Games Philippines Country Manager Joel Guzman.
Liga Republika Tournament Format And Schedules
The tournament immediately kicks off with Open Qualifiers from July 4 to 8, moves into Group Stage matches from July 10 to 13, and ends with the Playoffs from July 19 to 27. This year’s format puts team coordination, strategy, and adaptability at the forefront. Open Qualifiers will eliminate the unprepared via fierce Bo1 matchups. The top 12 teams will compete in a closely contested Group Stage with the best eight advancing to the playoffs. The Fearless Draft format will be introduced in the semi-finals and grand finals, pushing teams to diversify their picks and showcase deeper champion pools. A Best-of-Three series will be conducted for the semi-finals, and a Best-of-Five format for the Grand Finals. In addition to representing the country on the regional stage, the champion of the Liga Republika 2025 will also bring home a lion’s share of the ₱860,000 prize pool. “The refreshed format is designed to challenge even the most seasoned players. We’re committed to empowering the community now that the path to global recognition is within reach. Through Liga Republika, Filipino players continue to prove they have what it takes to compete on the world stage, and we’re here to support their journey,” said Riot Games Philippines MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) Brand Manager Kimi Salazar.
