Batangas State University, The National Engineering University (BatStateU The NEU), emerged victorious during the 56th Batangas City Foundation Day, clinching Championship titles in both the Float Making and Traditional Subli Dance competitions, marking a three-peat win for the University in both categories since 2023.
The Sublian Float Parade, held last July 23, 2025, drew over 20 creative and culturally inspired entries from various institutions, establishments, and organizations across the city. Among the 12 competing floats under the theme “Masaya Ang Sama-Sama, Tuloy-Tuloy Na Pag-Unlad”, BatStateU’s intricately designed float stood out for its artistic craftsmanship, thematic coherence, and vibrant representation of Batangueño identity. A product of collective creativity between BatStateU students and faculty, it was crafted as a single, unified work of art which carried rich local symbolism. Gold and red accents symbolized honor, strength, and Batangueño pride while key components such as the Santo Niño on a boat, moving mechanical parts, and miniature figures reflected faith, heritage, innovation, and community. Moreover, the Caballero tree, in full bloom, represented the vibrant spirit of Batangueños and their deep connection to the land and seasons. The fishermen honored the enduring livelihood shaped by Batangas Bay and the Verde Island Passage. Meanwhile, the kalesa, adorned with Red Spartan pride, represented the community’s resilience and cultural rootedness. Every detail carried meaning, from the Bahay Na Bato structures to the glowing candles, making the float not just a visual spectacle but a heartfelt cultural narrative. For this, the University was once again named Best Float, securing a cash prize of ₱200,000 and a trophy.

“This third consecutive win really reflects our University’s dedication to heritage, creativity, and community engagement. Our float serves as a moving tribute to Batangueño progress and pride, even as we continue to engineer innovation and cultural excellence,” said Asst. Prof. Mark Emmanuel Magsino, Director for Culture and the Arts. The University of Batangas won second place in the float competition while Fashionista Mom Beauty Lounge took third place. Meanwhile, the rain-soaked morning of July 21, 2025 did not dampen the spirits of performers in the Traditional Subli Dance Competition where BatStateU once again proved its artistic prowess. In the College Category, the BatStateU Diwayanis Dance Theater was crowned Champion, achieving a three-peat victory after winning the same title in 2023 and 2024. The group’s compelling performance, marked by precision, grace, and cultural authenticity, captivated both judges and spectators. In the High School Category, BatStateU Integrated School secured a commendable 2nd Runner-Up finish, contributing further to the University’s celebration of culture and student talent. This year’s Foundation Day celebration was made even more meaningful with BatStateU’s consistent victories. It serves as a symbol of unity, resilience, and excellence despite the inclement weather, and a reminder of the Red Spartan spirit that continues to shine in every endeavor.
