Team Philippines charged into the spotlight at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Bangkok, Thailand — bringing speed, style, and serious fire across Speed Skating, Figure Skating, and Ice Hockey. This year’s Philippine skating delegation have made their statements — winning one gold, three silver, and four bronze medals for the country. From explosive short track racers to elegant figure skaters trained on the world stage and a historic first-ever women’s ice hockey team, Filipino athletes proved that ice sports are no longer niche — they’re a movement.

Speed Skating: Blink And You’ll Miss Them
Short Track Speed Skating is pure adrenaline — tight corners, lightning-fast sprints, and heart-stopping finishes. Team Philippines’ speed skaters are built for exactly that kind of pressure. Peter Groseclose won gold in the Men's 500m category and silver in the Men's 1500m category while leading the men's team which included Hans Buemio, JC Asuncion, and Sun Phil Zablan to a bronze finish at the Men's Open Relay 5000m category. The women's team comprising of Caitlyn Benitez, Shaelynn Bolos, Xsandrie Guimba, and Ethelmae Suguitan settled with a bronze medal finish at the Women's Open Relay 3500m tilt. Powered by discipline and relentless training, many of the country’s rising speed skating talents sharpened their edge at SM Skating Megamall — a hub where speed meets structure and raw potential is transformed into podium-ready performance.

Figure Skating: Where Power Meets Poetry
Figure skating is where athleticism collides with artistry — and Team Philippines’ representatives are owning the ice with commanding jumps, fluid footwork, and undeniable presence. In the end, Paolo Borromeo capped off his SEA Games 2025 journey with a bronze medal in the Men's Singles category while Maxine Bautista's Women's Singles performance earned her a silver medal. Cathryn Limketkai and Brandon Baldoz also competed in their respective categories and put up a show on ice that delighted audiences and bringing pride to the Filipino nation. Trained abroad and competing globally, these Filipino-American skaters bring international flair and elite technique to the SEA Games stage. Their journey highlights a growing truth: figure skating is gaining momentum back home, and SM Skating branches nationwide are opening the ice to a new generation eager to spin, glide, and shine.

Ice Hockey: Power Plays, Big Hits, And A Historic First
Fast-paced, physical, and fiercely strategic — ice hockey is where grit truly shows. Team Philippines' Men's Ice Hockey National Team entered the SEA Games battleground with speed, strength, and heart and eventually made the country proud with a bronze medal finish. On the other hand, this year marks a historic milestone: the Philippines’ first-ever women’s ice hockey team at the SEA Games — an empowering leap forward for the sport and for women in Philippine athletics. And it all paid off as the women's ice hockey team almost dominated the competition only to settle with a silver medal finish. Both teams trained and developed at SM Skating Mall of Asia, the country’s premier ice hockey venue — where speed, strength, and teamwork are forged on world-class ice.
