Sony Music Publishing (SMP) recently announced the immediate appointment of Roslyn Pineda as its new Asia President. Slated to succeed longtime SMP Asia President Carol Ng who will remain with the company until her planned retirement at the end of March 2026, Pineda will be based out of Hong Kong and will report directly to Sony Music Publishing International President Guy Henderson. As Asia President, Pineda will be responsible for overseeing creative and business operations across multiple territories in Asia and is tasked with strengthening key relationships with clients and industry partners and expanding global support for SMP songwriters in the region.
Pineda said, “I am thrilled to take on this leadership role at Sony Music Publishing Asia during such an exciting time for our industry and our region. I look forward to collaborating with our talented team and working closely with Guy Henderson and Jon Platt to empower our songwriters across Asia. Together, we will foster a vibrant, energetic environment that prioritizes creativity and innovation, ensuring that the voices of our creators are heard and celebrated. Keen to make great things happen!” Pineda joins the music publishing business at Sony Music where she most recently held the position of Sony Music Entertainment (SME) Philippines General Manager and Asia Vice President of Artist Relations and Business Development. Having worked at the record label both in Hong Kong and earlier in the Philippines since 2001, Pineda has worked with a broad variety of artists both Asian and Western including John Mayer, F4, Leehom Wang, Jessi, Sekai No Owari, Ricky Martin, Alicia Keys, and One Direction. From late 2018, Pineda oversaw the reopening of SME’s Philippines office; signed Ben&Ben, SB19 and IV OF SPADES as its first artists; led the acquisition of the ABS-CBN music catalogue in 2024; and was honoured as Billboard Philippines’ first-ever Music Industry Executive of the Year in 2025. Before working in music, Pineda began her career in marketing at Unilever. On the appointment of Roslyn Pineda as SMP Asia President, SMP International President Guy Henderson said, “I am so pleased that Ros will take over the reigns as President for SMP Asia, which is one of our most important and continuously expanding international regions. With Ros’ success in the artist development and creative space, as well as her experience of more than two decades in the music business, she brings a new focus to the region to further expand our business into the future.”
On the retirement of Carol Ng as SMP Asia President, Henderson said, “Carol Ng has led our company in Asia with great distinction and success for many years. During her time, she expanded our business into new territories and established us as the leading publisher across the region. Her contributions have positioned our team for further growth, and we are incredibly grateful for all that he has done for the company.” Ng shared, “Throughout all these years my team and I have had good synergies with each other, we have worked and built together the leading market position in the region. It has therefore been a difficult decision for me to retire but there is a time for everything. I am looking forward to spending more time with my family and a personal plan to gradually stay in the U.K.” Ng first joined the company in 1998 as Finance and Admin Manager, was later promoted to SMP Asia Chief Financial Officer, then SMP Asia Regional Managing Director, before being promoted to President, Asia in 2021. Since then, Ng has overseen the business across the Asian market; managing strategic expansion with the launch of multiple new offices in the region including Jakarta, Indonesia in 2021 and Bangkok, Thailand and Manila in the Philippines in 2025.
