Philippine media advocacy group Anak TV welcomed Timor-Leste to the Southeast Asia Video Festival for Children (SEAVFC), following the country’s entry into the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Anak TV recently led a delegation to Timor-Leste to begin preparations for the country’s participation in the 6th Southeast Asia Video Festival for Children which will be held in Indonesia in November 2027.

The Anak TV delegation composed of Anak TV President Elvira Yap Go, Anak TV Vice President and ABS-CBN Head of Corporate Communications Kane Errol Choa, Anak TV Executive Committee member Ambassador Minda Cruz, and Anak TV Secretariat Rechilda Estores met with Philippine Ambassador to Timor-Leste Mary Anne Padua at the Philippine Embassy in Dili as part of Anak TV’s initiative to pave the way for Timor-Leste’s participation in the Southeast Asia Video Festival for Children. Ambassador Padua welcomed the delegation and supported Anak TV’s efforts to connect Timorese media institutions and educators to Anak TV’s regional festival which promotes storytelling for children across Southeast Asia. During the visit, the Anak TV group also went to the office of GMN where they met with Director General Levi da Costa Serrano and his team. Anak TV invited Serrano to join the SEAVFC Governing Board, an invitation he accepted, paving the way for Timor-Leste’s representation in the regional initiative. The delegation later met at the Philippine Embassy with representatives from several schools as well as the Casa de Producao Audiovisual (CAP) who expressed enthusiasm in supporting Timor-Leste’s participation in the festival.

The SEAVFC is Anak TV’s regional initiative that celebrates stories about children through video. The festival brings together entries from ASEAN countries and provides a platform for both professional creators and young video makers to share stories based on the festival’s theme. SEAVFC was first launched in 2017 and has since been held in several Southeast Asian countries like the Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, and most recently in Thailand last November 2025. Preparations are now underway to support Timor-Leste’s maiden participation in the 6th SEAVFC where entries from across the region will once again showcase stories that reflect the lives, hopes, and experiences of children in Southeast Asia.

Offshore Music Announces Summer Slate Featuring Ligaya Escueta, Sexy Jay, ALYSON, And Halina

Offshore Music, a Manila-based label championing the real, the raw, and the refreshingly original in Filipino music, continues to expand its global footprint with a roster of new and upcoming releases scheduled for the summer of 2026 (and beyond). Founded in 2016 by a collective of business minds and musical visionaries, the prominent label is headed by Ely Buendia, a Filipino rock icon responsible for writing and producing some of the most important OPM anthems of all time including music for ‘90s alternative legends The Eraserheads.

This year, Offshore Music is committed to introducing a new wave of Filipino talents who dare to challenge sonic conventions and make a mark in the industry with their incredible sense of individuality, musical direction, and style. From ‘80s kitsch to Basil Valdez-indebted soul, from dreamy indie pop to neo-Manila Sound, Offshore’s upcoming and new releases will surely add an intriguing layer of novelty and freshness to today’s evolving music landscape.

Sexy Jay (Jay Villarosa): Sexy Jay introduces “DAGA” (released last March 13, 2025), a playful and inventive track inspired by the tale of a mother and a child mouse. Built from the ground up, Villarosa singlehandedly helmed the song’s sonic identity, drawing from ‘80s-inspired analog synths and drum machines. Villarosa independently produced the track with mastering by Diego Mapa. Additional content, including a music video and live performances, is expected to follow.
Ligaya Escueta (Abigail Escueta): Ligaya Escueta returns with “June” (released last March 27, 2026), a lush, introspective love song that finds beauty amid uncertainty. Sifting through hazy textures and dreamy arrangements, “June” features contributions from bandmates Kristo, Diego, and Ninja, alongside Mikey Amistoso and izen. Apart from “June”, the young indie rock darling plans to release a few more singles this year which hopefully will lead to the completion of a full-length album with a target release of early 2027.
Halina (Divino Dayacap): Halina, the solo music project of Davino Dacayap, has recently released a Marvin Gaye-inspired track called “Tukso,” which transports listeners back to heydays of Manila Sound and ‘70s Motown. In two months’ time, the eclectic singer-songwriter and producer will be releasing Tagalog Baroque pop song that evokes the sound the 1960s, with its contrapuntal guitars and grooving baseline reminiscent of the Doors. The forthcoming, still-untitled single (to be released on May 2026) revolves around unrequited feelings, embodied through a character likened to a nonchalant pet cat.
ALYSON: ALYSON recently released “Kung Sakaling Tanawin”, the second single from their forthcoming album After Ours, last March 27, 2026. The piano-backed orchestral ballad explores themes of reflection and unresolved emotions in past relationships. Inspired by Filipino teleseryes and K-dramas, the song shows range and accessibility in an exciting new form with Pio’s tender songwriting brushing against a richly layered, cinematic arrangement that recalls peak Basil Valdez and Rey Valera. With their album releases and touring plans on the horizon, ALYSON continues to move away from safe territory with newfound influences and ambition.

Thai Pop’s Rising Star ALLY Launches Global Push With Manila Visit

Thai pop star ALLY (Achiraya Nitibhon) kicked off her international campaign for new English single “but you” in Manila last March 24-26, 2026, marking her official push into the Southeast Asian market. At just 21, ALLY has emerged as one of Thailand’s most promising new-generation artists, known for her dynamic performances, fashion-forward presence, and emotionally resonant pop sound. Her Manila stop signals the beginning of a broader regional rollout aimed at connecting with international audiences and building a global fanbase.

Her latest track “but you” represents a pivotal moment in her artistic journey. Performed entirely in English, the song blends R&B, pop, and lo-fi hip-hop influences into a smooth, atmospheric soundscape that captures longing, emotional distance, and the ache of enduring feelings often tied to an undefined relationship. The single also marks ALLY’s first full collaboration with JHIN, the artist behind the viral hit “Blue Butterflies”, which further amplified its international appeal. To develop the track, ALLY flew to New York to work closely with JHIN in person, shaping the song’s sound and emotional direction together. ALLY shares, “‘but you’ is a very personal song for me. It talks about that one person you can’t forget, even when the relationship is unclear or already over. Singing it in English allowed me to express those emotions in a way that people from different countries can understand. I’m so excited to share this song with Filipino listeners, because I’ve always heard how passionate and supportive they are.” Originally trained in South Korea under the guidance of 411 Music, ALLY underwent nearly two years of intensive preparation in singing, dancing, and music production. This foundation helped shape her into a world-class performer with a disciplined work ethic and versatile artistry. Beyond music, ALLY has steadily built a multi-faceted career across entertainment and fashion. She gained widespread recognition for her acting work in the Netflix series The Believers and has served as a brand ambassador for global luxury house CHANEL, positioning her as a modern Asian muse with growing international influence. She is also set to appear in the upcoming global K-pop thriller film “Perfect Girl”, directed by Hong Won-ki (Goedam) and featuring an international cast spanning both K-pop and Hollywood. ALLY stands out as the only Thai artist selected for the project, further highlighting her rising global profile.

ALLY’s Manila visit featured media appearances, performances, and a fan meet with Filipino supporters who have helped amplify her music across Southeast Asia, a testament to the country’s vibrant music culture and passionate pop fandom. She shared, “Visiting the Philippines feels very special to me. I want to connect with fans, perform live, and share my music face-to-face. This trip is the first step of my global journey and I’m grateful to start it in a country with such an incredible love for music.”
