Japanese dance and vocal group BE:FIRST brought the heat to Manila as they joined P-pop kings SB19 for the highly anticipated “Wakas At Simula: The Trilogy Concert Finale”, held last April 18, 2026 at the SMDC Festival Grounds. The concert, which served as SB19’s grand homecoming and final stop of their global tour, drew a massive sold-out crowd of fans — making it one of the most talked-about live events in the Philippines this year.
BE:FIRST’s appearance comes on the heels of their viral collaboration with SB19, “Toyfriend”, which was first performed at the D.U.N.K. Showcase in K-Arena Yokohama 2026. The stage quickly made waves across Asia, earning strong support from both A’TIN and international fans, and further bridging the connection between J-Pop and P-Pop. Ahead of the concert, BE:FIRST connected with Filipino audiences through a series of high-profile appearances including guestings on the iconic Wish Bus and the hit noontime show It’s Showtime as well as joint media engagements with SB19. These moments helped build excitement and familiarity with the group among local fans. Taking the stage in Manila, BE:FIRST delivered a high-energy set featuring “Toyfriend”, “Boom Boom Back”, and “BE:FIRST ALL DAY”. The group was warmly welcomed by Filipino fans with member SOTA greeting the crowd, “Manila, we’re BE:FIRST from Japan! Nothing but respect for SB19 and A’TIN!” — a moment that drew loud cheers from the audience.
With their signature sharp choreography, powerful stage presence, and impressive live vocals, BE:FIRST energized the crowd and seamlessly matched the intensity of the night. Their performance not only showcased their artistry but also strengthened their growing connection with Filipino fans. As their global reach continues to expand, BE:FIRST’s Manila stage marks another milestone — proving their rising influence and the strong cross-cultural bond between Japanese and Filipino music communities.

Eraserheads Documentary Makes Global Debut On Netflix On May 30, 2026

The acclaimed Filipino docufilm Eraserheads: Combo On The Run will mark its global debut on Netflix starting May 30, 2026. The official streaming release will be available in more than 190 countries, bringing the legacy of the iconic band to the forefront of a wider crossover. The Netflix premiere will feature a newly reworked cut of the film including never-before-seen footage, additional material, and a refined edit that expands the band’s story while preserving its integrity in storytelling.
Director-producer Maria Diane Ventura described the global release as “incredibly humbling”, emphasizing the need to share the Eraserheads’ legacy and its distinctly Filipino story with international audiences, stating, “This film has always meant so much to us, and to see it travel beyond our borders in this way is very special. What’s been most meaningful is hearing how people connect to it on a personal level, the sense of healing, and the pride in being Filipino. To now bring that to a global audience feels like an extension of that, an opportunity to share who we are, our music, our stories, and our spirit, with the rest of the world.” According to Ventura, the reimagined cut was helmed with a desire to make the film more engaging on a universal level, providing added context about the cultural landscape that defined the band’s rise. She also reiterated that the re-edit is not a complete departure from the original but a fine-tuning that provides clarity and accessibility for an audience unfamiliar with the subject. She shares, “The re-edit was not about changing the story but about refining how it’s told. We want to make sure the emotional thoroughline remains strong while shaping it in a way that feels more expansive and accessible. Ultimately, I hope it becomes a story not just about a band but about connection, about finding ways back to each other, and about the possibility of healing, especially in a time when the world feels increasingly divided.”
Beyond tracing the history and impact of the Eraserheads to Pinoy pop culture, the Filipino music documentary also examines themes of friendship, conflict, identity, and reconciliation. Its narrative offers a tale of humanity that resonates across cultures and generations. As Ventura puts it, “We made sure this version provides enough context so that even if you’re entirely new to the band, you can still understand where they’re coming from and hopefully see something of yourself in that journey.”
