In a landmark move that redefines broadcast journalism for the digital generation, Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC 13) recently unveiled a comprehensive rebranding of its News and Current Affairs division, cementing its position as the nation’s premier guardian against misinformation and digital news chaos. The rebranding is now known as TreZe, an aggressive multimedia news initiative designed to combat misinformation while establishing itself as the trusted TV news source for Gen Z and millennial Filipinos.

As algorithmic echo chambers proliferate and viral misinformation spreads faster than ever, traditional news institutions face an existential challenge: younger Filipinos increasingly distrust legacy media while consuming news from unverified sources. TreZe directly confronts this crisis by positioning IBC 13 as an antidote to digital chaos — a sanctuary of factual, reliable information specifically designed for the generation that will shape the Philippines’ future. Aiming to stir positive interest among the youth not only on terrestrial tv but mainly on the bigger digital space, this strategy introduces 14 specially trained Gen Z news anchors and a dynamic team of young reporters trained in digital-forward storytelling across multiple platforms — from traditional television to digital channels where younger audiences actually consume news. IBC 13 President Jimmie Policarpio declared, “This revitalization confirms our unwavering commitment to younger Filipinos. In an age where truth is obscured by noise, we’re meeting Gen Z where you are — on your platforms, with anchors who understand your worldview, delivering news that’s verified, explained, and designed to empower you. We are launching the next generation of fresh faces in the news broadcast industry. They’re trained and equipped to engage and empower our youth with truthful knowledge.” Leading this revolution are 14 fresh news personalities comprising of William Thio, Gab Bayan, Greg Gregorio, Daniel Manalastas, Eugene Fernandez, Gabrielle Lopez, Angela Sy, Atty. Marge Gutierrez, Eve Valdez, Princess Jordan, Czai Chua, Nadj Miravalles, Czarinnah Lusuegro, and Alice Noel.

Complementing this unique strategy, launched at the time of critical moments happening in the country and across the globe, are primary weekday and weeknight news programs including:

TreZe Mornings (Monday-Friday, 6:00-8:00 am) delivers energetic, conversational daily news and insights, hosted by Daniel Manalastas, Atty. Marge Gutierrez, Gabrielle Lopez, Alice Noel, Eugene Fernandez, and Eve Valdez

The revitalized IBC 13 is deploying new transmitters and studios nationwide. The network projects 24 digital and analog stations across the country, reaching 18.6 million urban and rural households — 85 percent coverage. Digital terrestrial transmission will reach 11.88 million households, capturing 54 percent of the market. IBC 13 leverages nearly five decades of journalistic credibility. From the iconic Newsday (1975–1986) featuring legends Frankie Evangelista and Amelita “Bingo” Lacson to groundbreaking programs like Public Forum and Sic O’ Clock News, the network has consistently set benchmarks for truthful, accountable reporting. With its recently renewed 25-year broadcast franchise, IBC 13 is doubling down on this storied legacy while boldly pivoting toward the next generation of Filipino leaders. Policarpio emphasized, “TreZe isn’t about forcing Gen Z to watch traditional news. It’s about meeting younger Filipinos where they are — on their platforms, with anchors who understand their worldview, delivering verified information in an unverified world. For young Filipinos, your truth has a new address. It’s IBC 13.” IBC 13’s TreZe is more than just a relaunch — it is an opportunity to be the defining brand partner of a national news revival that revitalizes Gen X Millennials and underserved urban and rural communities, striving to seek mass appeal and modern news targeting, presented in a trusted editorial environment.
