TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile video, announced new initiatives to strengthen transparency around AI-generated content, reinforcing its commitment to helping people create, discover, and engage with content safely and responsibly. The platform believes that AI has the potential to transform how people share their creativity, discover new passions, and engage with content more meaningfully when used transparently and responsibly.

As AI capabilities continue to evolve, TikTok is also expanding the tools, partnerships, and safeguards that help its community identify, create, and better understand AI-generated content. As part of these efforts, TikTok is introducing new ways to do that, including expanding TikTok’s AI literacy efforts with new educational resources and continued investment in trusted expert partnerships, testing improved detection systems to target accounts dedicated to posting AI-generated spam that crowds out original creators, and strengthening AI transparency technologies and partnerships by joining the C2PA Steering Committee.

Helping people understand, explore, and create with AI confidently
TikTok continues to invest in initiatives that help its community understand and use AI responsibly, recognizing that education is key to empowering people to navigate AI-driven experiences with confidence. To support this support, TikTok collaborated with industry partners the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) and AI expert Henry Ajder to create a new guide that helps its community use AI tools responsibly. The platform is also expanding its work with trusted organizations to promote AI literacy through educational content. Through partnerships with organizations such as NoFiltr and Rasberry Pi Foundation, TikTok has helped bring expert-led AI education to its community. Since its launch in November 2025, the program has enabled expert organizations to generate more than 200 million views with content that helps people better understand and use AI responsibly. TikTok is committed more than $4M (4 million dollars) to date and will continue investing in the program to expand its reach and impact.

Strengthening efforts to combat spam
As AI continues to unlock new opportunities for creativity and storytelling, TikTok is also enhancing its efforts to address the misuse of the technology, particularly the mass production of spam that can undermine authentic content and creators. Spam has long been prohibited on the platform with AI-powered technologies helping detect and remove violative content at scale. In the first three months of the year alone, TikTok removed more than 86 million fake accounts as part of its ongoing enforcement efforts. In the coming weeks, TikTok will begin testing enhancements to its detection systems to better identify accounts dedicated to posting AI-generated spam on topics that could pose risks to public trust or well-being. These include content related to politics and current events, financial advice, and medical information.

Deepening AI transparency partnerships
As more creators explore AI, TikTok continues to expand labelling technologies and partnerships that help them do so responsibly. Two years ago, TikTok was the first video platform to implement C2PA Content Credentials, a leading AI transparency technology that helps people understand when content has been generated or significantly edited by AI. Building on this commitment, TikTok has joined the C2PA Steering Committee to help advance the adoption of AI transparency standards across the industry. To date, TikTok labeled over 3 billion videos as AIGC using a combination of Content Credentials, creator labeling tools and its propriety invisible watermarking technology.

Unlocking AI’s positive impact
These updates are part of TikTok’s broader efforts to safeguard and empower positive AI experiences on TikTok. The platform continues to invest in creative AI tools including Smart Split and AI Outline while testing features such as Manage Topics which gives users greater control over how much AI-generated content appears in their feeds. “We believe people should have context, confidence and control over their experiences with AI on TikTok. We continue to invest in technologies, partnerships and educational resources that help people spot AI-generated content, understand how it’s created, and use these tools creatively and responsibly,” said Tom Varghese, AI Lead for TikTok’s Global Public Policy Team.
