Forty years into the industry, Hanabishi Appliances continues to help families by providing quality products that offer convenience and comfort to their everyday lives. The homegrown brand has also looked for opportunities to give back through various community efforts in partnership with like-minded organizations. One such organization is the GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) which was initiated by veteran broadcast journalist Mel Tiangco. For 14 years, Hanabishi has collaborated with GMAKF for meaningful and innovative projects across the country.

Hanabishi continued its partnership with GMAKF through the signing of a new memorandum of agreement (MOA). Hanabishi Appliances President Jasper Ong and GMA Kapuso Foundation Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Rikki Escudero-Catibog led the signing of their partnership renewal at the Kapuso Center Building in Quezon City. Also present during the signing were Hanabishi Appliances Vice Presidents Candice Ong-Ang (Operations), Cherish Ong-Chua (Finance and Marketing), and Jevon Ong (Purchasing and Merchandising). “We take great pride in working with GMA Kapuso Foundation, an organization that continues to drive meaningful change in the lives of many Filipinos. As we celebrate our 40th year, we are reminded of the importance of building partnerships to make a real difference in the communities we serve. We look forward to working with them once again as we continue to give back and provide opportunities to our fellow Filipinos,” said Jasper Ong. Hanabishi has supported GMA Kapuso Foundation’s various initiatives towards education, community, rehabilitation, and relief operations for more than a decade now. One of the most noteworthy projects that the brand participated in was the Rebuild Marawi Project which sought to rehabilitate three elementary schools in Marawi City. It has also provided appliances to schools to ensure that children can study in comfortable environments, among others. “We’re very happy with our partnership with Hanabishi. The appliances that we use from Hanabishi on our schools are very reliable, they’re sturdy, hindi sila sirain. We are very happy because when we do our renovation of schools 10 years and above, we see the original fans still working and still attached to the ceilings of our schools. So we want to say thank you to Hanabishi for trusting Kapuso Foundation and for signing a MOA again. And rest assured that as we go forward with more projects, we will look for more relevant ways to use Hanabishi in our different infrastructure projects,” said Escudero-Catibog.

The Hanabishi executives also expressed their gratitude to the GMAKF for their 14-year partnership. “At Hanabishi, we have always aspired to be the ka-partner of Filipino families in making their lives easier, and through this partnership, we get to go beyond providing appliances but also bringing hope and comfort to many. We are grateful for the trust and support that have made Hanabishi a part of Filipino homes for generations, and we are also thankful for partners like GMA Kapuso Foundation for giving us the opportunity to make a positive impact in the communities that have supported us through the years,” said Ong-Chua.

PVL, Spikers' Turf Renew Partnership With Cignal

President Richard N. Palou, Spikers' Turf Tournament Director Melissa “Mozzy” Ravena (Image Source: Manila Standard/Premier Volleyball League)

The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) and Spikers’ Turf are set to continue their partnership with Cignal for another three years, ensuring that Filipino volleyball fans can catch more exciting matches and memorable moments through One Sports and One Sports+. Over the past five years, the PVL partnership has delivered 15 conferences filled with thrilling matches, breakthrough performances, and timeless rivalries that have captivated volleyball fans across the country. Spikers’ Turf, meanwhile, marks a decade of growth and has played a key role in providing opportunities for male volleyball players and helping strengthen the sport’s ecosystem.

“Cignal has been a tremendous partner in helping the PVL and the Spikers’ Turf reach more fans and elevate the sport to greater heights. Their commitment to volleyball has been instrumental to our growth, and we are excited to continue working together for the next three years. Together, we look forward to bringing more exciting matches to Filipino fans while helping grow volleyball even more in the Philippines,” said Sports Vision Management Inc. President, Richard N. Palou. For Cignal, this partnership underscores the increasing prominence of both leagues within the local sports landscape and reinforces their capacity to broaden volleyball's reach and audience engagement. “Over the years, the PVL has established itself as one of the best leagues in the Philippines. It brings communities together, inspires young athletes, and consistently delivers world-class competition. We are proud to renew our partnership with the PVL. We look forward to bringing more of the league’s unforgettable moments to the fans in the years to come,” said Cignal Officer-in-Charge and Chief Financial Officer Christopher C. Lizo. Cignal, the PVL, and Spikers’ Turf are poised to create even more memories and bring volleyball to a wider audience in the years ahead. Speaking of Spikers’ Turf, the Philippines' premier and pioneer men's volleyball league will mark its 10th season with a milestone long envisioned by its founders – finally sharing the same stage and playdates with the Premier Volleyball League – starting with the 2026 Invitational Conference, opening on October 10, 2026 at the SM Seaside Cebu Arena alongside the PVL’s All-Filipino Conference, putting the country’s top men’s and women’s volleyball leagues under one roof for the first time.

Sports Vision Management Group Inc., which organizes both leagues, will then make the shared playdates a regular feature with Spikers’ Turf matches sandwiched between PVL games every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. “Foremost, I would like to thank Cignal and Sports Vision, PVL, for making the dream possible. It took 10 years. Even from the very beginning, we wanted to play side by side with the PVL and finally, as they say, dreams do come true. After 10 years, ito na, maglalaro na kami with the women’s teams sa PVL. Thank you so much for making it happen,” said Spikers’ Turf tournament director Mozzy Ravena at the league’s 10/10 press conference held last September 14, 2026 at Novotel Manila. The Spikers’ Turf will also retain separate playdates of its own as 10 teams battle in the Invitational Conference. Six squads from the Open Conference earlier this year will return, led by champion Criss Cross, along with Savouge, Alpha Insurance, Cabstars, 3B and VNS. Newcomer Clearskiiin will make its league debut while the Armed Forces of the Philippines returns to the Spikers’ Turf after an absence. The field will be completed by the top two teams from the ongoing V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge, giving the Invitational Conference a blend of established clubs, newcomers and collegiate standouts. The 10 teams will play a single round-robin elimination, with the top four advancing to the round-robin semifinals where they will be joined by two foreign guest teams. The top two finishers will then clash in a knockout championship match. For Sports Vision president Ricky Palou, the landmark 10th season reflects how far Philippine volleyball has progressed since the league was established. “Ten seasons is a big milestone for us. When we started, our goal was simply to provide Filipino volleyball players with a platform to compete and showcase their talent. Ten seasons later, we’re very proud of how far the sport – and our leagues – have come.”
