Local government units in the Philippines and their residents are starting to reap and enjoy the benefits of the digital economy, thanks in part to the country's pioneer in providing digital financial services Paymaya Philippines.

In support of the country's digital transformation, Paymaya is enabling the cashless ecosystems of cities and local government units through its brand of physical cards which will be distributed to various residents, digital disbursement of financial support and grants, and payment acceptance for government services. Complementing these services are the e-commerce and access platforms from Voyager Innovations as well as PLDT and Smart Communications' wide nationwide network coverage.

Balanga City, Bataan was the first city to sign up for the program which was followed by the city of Muntinlupa, Catbalogan City in Visayas, and recently in Malolos, Bulacan. Residents and government employees in these areas will be able to experience the power of digital payments using their own Paymaya cards. They can also perform other online transactions with these cards such as monitoring their balance, purchase prepaid load, and pay bills.

Paymaya Philippines and Voyager Innovations president and CEO Orlando Vea stated that digital transformation is paving the way for local government units to accelerate their developments and improve the quality of life of their citizens. The company is slated to look forward in empowering more government partners through digital financial services in the coming months and years.
