Smart Communications in partnership with Huawei Technologies Philippines has successfully activated a new type of carrier aggregation called 4CC (four-component carrier) within the country's premier tourist destination which has reached minimum speeds of 280 Mbps in its initial runs. For those who don't know about carrier aggregation, it is a capability found in 4G LTE services which allows the combination of two or more radio frequency bands in order to deliver bigger capacity and faster data speeds to mobile data users. 4CC, on the other hand, combines four separate spectrum blocks to deliver much greater capacity and speeds.
During these tests which were conducted in a live and loaded network, Smart has also achieved promising speeds of up to 400-500 Mbps which makes pretty much sense why mobile data services are insanely faster in one of the world's most beautiful islands. Aside from 4CC aggregation, the successful testing is also made possible through 4x4 MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) and 256 QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) which help increase mobile data speeds in a similar manner to carrier aggregation. Although the activation of these new technologies vastly improve mobile data services in Boracay, Smart stated that it is just only the beginning of what it can achieve through its ongoing efforts for the fulfillment of its commitment to deliver first-world internet services that would suit the needs of tech-centric Filipino consumers.
By the way, I've just learned that Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus happen to be the only mobile devices available in the market so far that are capable of delivering insanely fast mobile data experience through 4CC aggregation which is why it is impossible for budget-conscious consumers to purchase any of these flagship marvels unless they prefer convenient gadget financing via Home Credit. Regardless, Smart assures those with LTE-capable handsets a better level of mobile internet experience thanks to the capabilities of the 700 MHz spectrum.
