In its fifth year as the official broadcaster of the UAAP, Cignal TV Inc. (Cignal) has once again brought in each university’s own representative to bring us the stories from their sidelines and inside the huddles. Returning this UAAP Season 88 are University of the Philippines (UP)' own Cheska Ramos, Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU/Ateneo)’s Vicsi Burgos, and University of the East (UE)’s Althea Franco. Joining them fresh in the fray are De La Salle University (DLSU/La Salle)’s Sophie Espiritu, Adamson University (Adamson)’s Frankie Buenvenida, Far Eastern University (FEU)’s Juliana Marasigan, National University (NU)’s Zjeahne Luis, and Sidney Oliva of Season 88 host school University of Santo Tomas (UST).

Althea returns for the red and white, now a third-year BA Broadcasting student and a junior news writer for the school’s The Dawn as well. Her experience in hosting events that range from corporate, governance, and school helps hone her skills before taking on the sideline reporting duties for the Red Warriors. She’s also a university scholar and local tourism ambassador for her hometown Bocaue’s Municipal Government Tourism office. Vicsi’s second go-round with the Katipunan school is bound to be full of fun, action, and suspense as she helps tell the stories of the rebuilding programs of the blue and white. This third-year AB Communication student has also been through her own experiences the past year of being an Events Team Leader in Ateneo’s AIESEC. Cheska is more than ready for a second season with the defending champion UP Fighting Maroons as she brings audiences the stories and happenings from State U. This UP JMA Externals Committee member and former football player turned volleyball athlete is now more than equipped to bring her Maroon quotes and stories from the sidelines this Season 88. DLSU’s new correspondent Sophie is a double major student, taking up BS and MS Industrial Engineering. This fourth-year engineering major also serves as her organization’s marketing and events host in addition to being an industrial engineering representative to the school’s student council. A true-blooded Lasallian, she also hailed from DLSU Manila’s senior high school program and has been a follower of the UAAP since she was 12 because her parents are huge fans. A multisport athlete, she also plays badminton and golf, while also dabbling in dances such as contemporary, folk, street, and ballet.

Adamson will be bannering one of their women’s basketball players to report for the men’s team this season 88 as Frankie Buenvenida graces the sidelines for Coach Nash Racela’s Soaring Falcons. This 2nd year BS Psych major actually plays for their women’s basketball team and has been making waves in the women’s basketball scene since her childhood. She was a part of the first-ever SLAM Rising Stars Classic for Women in 2023 and the youngest Jr. WNBA National Camp Finalist at just 11 years old back in 2018. She remembers watching the league as young as seven years old – or the 2013 Finals between brothers Jeric and Jeron Teng. Morayta is once again proud to showcase their very own on the sidelines as Juliana Marasigan takes the baton from Mae Reyes for the green and gold. A 2nd year BA International Studies Major, she hails from NU Laguna and was a member of Prima Nacional Artistica, a dance organization in her high school days. NU is fielding their very own student as correspondent for the second straight season as Zjeahne Luis brings her skills to the Bulldogs’ locker room. Taking up BA English Language Studies, this reporter and producer for NU’s The National is a certified public speaker, as she also serves as a student jock for a local FM radio station. She also serves as a correspondent for The National TV (TNTV), the official campus news broadcast organization of NU. Outside of sports, she is very much into calligraphy, painting, and clay sculptures. Last but not least, Season 88 host UST will banner their own student talent in Sidney Oliva. Big props to her years as a player of volleyball, she gained more than enough knowledge about success and teamwork before taking her talents to the drawing board and paper. She was hooked on the sport by watching UAAP legends Alyssa Valdez and Jia Morado when they led the Ateneo Blue Eagles to back-to-back volleyball titles.

With all eight correspondents hailing from their own respective schools, it shows that Cignal has been able to train and produce talents on the sidelines. It shows that the early breeding ground for talents begins their journey in the UAAP – because legends start here. Catch them on UAAP Season 88 on One Sports on free TV, UAAP Varsity Channel on Cignal in HD, Cignal Play, and Pilipinas Live.
