Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" proves that a tale that is old as time can give delight and share moments even in today's modern world. In the Philippines, the movie has completely re-captured the hearts and minds of movie buffs as it shatters local box-office records since it was first shown in Philippine cinemas last March 15, 2017.
Last week, Beauty and the Beast earned an opening day gross of Php47 million beating the Php31.5 million sales of its previous record-holder, Star Cinema's "My Ex and Whys", A week later, it is announced that the movie has broken box-office records in the Philippines anew as it became the second movie to reach the Php300 million box-office gross mark and eventually the highest-grossing movie of the year so far.
Aside from being a box-office blockbuster hit in the Philippines, it is also a blockbuster hit in other countries such as China, Mexico, Brazil, and even several European countries like Italy, Germany, and Spain which is slated to pass the US$400 million worldwide box-office gross mark. Heck, even its official soundtrack climbs its way to the top of the music charts with ten of its songs making it to the top 50 songs on Spotify Philippines.
