Universal Pictures' Fast and Furious 8 shattered box office records in many countries around the world in just about a week including a solid US$100.2 million in North America during its opening weekend, and the Philippines is no exception. The Vin Diesel-Dwayne Johnson opened on April 15, 2017 with a Php56 million gross in Philippine cinemas shattering records as the biggest opening day of the year and the best first day gross for a Universal Pictures film and even beating its predecessor's Php48 million opening day sales. In fact, it recorded an Easter weekend opening gross of Php110 million making an ode to fast cars and family a film to be reckoned with in local cinemas.

The movie sealed an opening-day gross of Php33 million making it the highest opening gross for Black Saturday of all time for a Philippine movie. In fact, it has just reached the Php100 million box-office gross mark after four days which is now considered a certified blockbuster.
