It is surprising to learn that more and more viewers from different parts of the world are falling in love with values-oriented and romance-filled programs in the Philippines, and leading that trend are dramas produced by ABS-CBN which are dubbed as teleseryes.
This is what the company's International Sales and Distribution Head Leng Raymundo shared to more than 1,000 mass communication students through her presentation on "Creating Content for Global Audiences" during the 11th Pinoy Media Congress which was held last March at St. Mary's College in Quezon City, and she also shared one particular reason why ABS-CBN's programs are deemed successful in capturing the hearts of foreign audiences - the authenticity of their stories.
Each country has a different culture but the people in these countries are looking for three things in common, and that would be a strong love story, family and moral values and an inspirational character who they can look up to. And ABS-CBN continues to deliver what local and foreign audiences are yearning to see with 60 years of experience and expertise in storytelling, keeping in mind its goal to empower and serve audiences aside from entertainment. It is no surprise why ABS-CBN dramas are gaining a huge following in many countries around the world while shows from the likes of USA, Mexico, Taiwan and Korea are becoming big hits on local television.
Being one of the leading sources of entertainment content in Southeast Asia is also leading in acquiring quality stories and format from other nations that would bring a meaningful viewing experience to Filipinos such as the top-rating late night Korean drama Love in the Moonlight, which is one of the many reasons why ABS-CBN is the true number one television station in the Philippines. With that in mind, I have no doubts that the premiere media and entertainment company in the country will continue to deliver inspiring and heartwarming stories that would surely cater to what foreign viewers want for a television show.
