An exhibit held in Rockwell on May 2016 and curated by Cid Reyes for the benefit of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, the water samples used in the exhibit come from some of the rivers, canals and creeks throughout the Metro including the Tullahan and Marikina Rivers, Cainta Creek, Binondo Canal and Taguig Estuary. These displayed artworks depict the everyday life among these riverbanks such as children swimming in polluted rivers and even families living under the bridges near the waterbanks, which has gained the nod of international media and local art afficionados.
Not only that, it was recognized by the recently-concluded Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards organized by the University of Asia and the Pacific as one of the best campaigns that pursue and promote the social good. In fact, it won a silver for public relations and a bronze medal for care for the environment categories.
The three-day exhibit has managed to raise over Php1.3 million which was turned over to the foundation, and this is just one of the many exhibits that prove that the beauty and uniqueness of one artwork can help people in many different ways possible. What local artists need to make it all possible is the support and welfare of the general public on understanding the resemblance of their works for the better good, and it is all that matters even today.
