It has been six months since the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) staged its first successful debut outside the Philippines held in San Francisco, California. Now, the premiere mixed martial arts organization in Southeast Asia makes its return and is bringing the exciting action of Philippine-style MMA to different heights as URCC is set to hold its second overseas event in the world's largest and most populated nation.
On a recently-held press conference last June 19, 2017, URCC founder and president Alvin Aguilar announced that eight of the promotion's world-class fighters will represent our local shores for URCC XXX which will be held on July 8, 2017 at the Beijing Sport University Stadium in Beijing, China, which is a fitting follow-up to URCC 29: Conquest last January that marked the beginning of the promotion's worldwide expansion.
The event will be headlined by two-division URCC middleweight and light flyweight champion Chris Hoffman and its first women's flyweight champion Geli Bulaong as they are set to defend their titles against their Chinese opponents. With a stacked card of MMA fights that pit Filipino fighters against the best that China has to offer in the world of mixed martial arts, it is assured that URCC XXX will be a memorable event that Chinese and Filipino fans of the combat sport will never forget as well as proving to the world what Philippine-style mixed martial arts is all about.
In the said press conference, Aguilar also announced the promotion's recently-signed partnership with Red Horse Beer, the entry of the Smart Araneta Coliseum as the official venue of all URCC events in the Philippines, and the full support of the Philippine government. Also making the rounds is URCC 31: Vendetta on August which will be the first URCC event to be held at the Philippines' mecca of sports entertainment. Boy, with that on the horizon, all I can ever say is "Oh, what a year for Philippine mixed martial arts!!"
