Filipinos have been fond of giant robots even before the rise of the millennial generation whether they are on TV, movies, merchandise and video games, and their love for these huge mechanical marvels push Philippine independent video game developer Indigo Entertainment to develop Garrison: Archangel, a futuristic robot combat game that is slated to hit home computers and gaming laptops by early next year.

Recently made the shift to Steam Direct from Steam Greenlight, the game allows up to four players to create and customize their own robot to their heart's content and take them to the arena where they can battle against not only other robots, but also traps and hazards that await them in the battlefield. Those who have played the demo version of the game may have noticed that the game is heavily inspired by their love for giant robots considering that its mechanics are found to be likely similar in the likes of Armored Core and Virtual On while the look of the robots are drawn from popular mecha anime franchises through the years.

What makes Garrison: Archangel unique is its robot customization system where the player can create their own custom fighting robots from a wide array of parts and weapons. At the same time, customization may affect the fighting robot's abilities depending on the parts and weapons they choose. The only thing missing in the game is its online multiplayer mode, but the developers are slated to add new match types, parts, weapons and robots as well as a card game which will be launched alongside the full version of the game.

Garrison: Archangel is a game that every giant robot lover in the Philippines should be proud of once it becomes available, and it will be up to the local gaming community whether it has potential to be part of an upcoming e-sports event in the near future. Heck, what can you expect from a group of young Filipinos with the same common interest?
