When you say binibini, it
clearly refers to a young and unmarried female of high standing according to
Filipino dictionaries. Although the meaning is not literally understandable in
today's modern world, the word symbolizes the image of a mild-mannered,
soft-spoken Filipina with admirable physical attributes. However, it becomes
part of what defines a Filipina today.

San Mig Light recently released on its official Facebook page a unique recreation
of the original 2002 San Miguel Beer TVC dubbed as "Binibini", and
the reason for the new TV ad to be unique is that it redefines the modern
Filipina not by how she looks and behaves but by becoming beyond the expectations
of society.
The new commercial features five ordinary Filipino women preparing for
their day ahead. These include MMA fighter Rome Trinidad, licensed chemical
engineer and environmental management specialist Mary Diane Lesiguez, San Juan
City firefighter Jessa Bondoc, licensed pilot Chezka Gonzales-Garrido and the
guitar ensemble trio Triple Fret (Charmaine Gallardo, Jennifer De Vera, Rachel
Sasing). These women prove in the commercial their worth even in areas
traditionally dominated by male.
This is what the modern Filipina is all about - passionate, tough and
driven to excel. Anyone who is asked what defines a binibini today may consider having a beer session with their
buddies if they have the drive to talk about it. Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention
that the new commercial is made possible by a team of female professionals who
are part of McCann Worldgroup. Yupp, it is a commercial made by Filipinas for
Filipinas and this is all that matters.
