The
city of Lipa is all set in celebrating the Barako Coffee Festival which will be
held on October 16-21, 2017, and kicking off the festivities is the city's
attempt to have a Guinness World Record for the longest line of people simultaneously
drinking coffee and other records thereof.
On
October 16, 2017, more than 6,000 people will gather at what is known by the
locals as the Ayala Highway which is a part of the JP Laurel National Highway that
stretches from Lipa City Hall to the vicinity of Robinsons Place Lipa and have
a sip of coffee at designated stations within the stretch. Those who are travelling
to Lipa may expect heavy traffic from 6:00-9:00 am as informed by the city's traffic
management division on social media.
Following
the attempt is the launch of the "Lipa History On Canvass" art
exhibit which will take place at the Event Center of SM City Lipa. The five-day
affair which showcase the different historical eras of the city rendered by eight
volunteer artists comprising of Joseph Albao, Janina Sanico, Ravenald dela
Cruz, Rex Tatlonghari, Rey Bautista, Robert Tiano, Mone Luz and Edward Padilla
Jr. There will also be a cooking competition dubbed "Barako Chef"
which is set for October 18, 2017 at the activity center of Big Ben Complex.
Featuring the city's best chefs, the competition aims to showcase coffee as a major
ingredient for savory and dessert dishes while providing a platform for LipeƱo
cooks and chefs to explore more culinary possibilities with Barako Coffee as
their important ingredient.
For
the Lipa City Tourism and Arts Council, it is best to end the week a long
festival with something special and that would be the crowning of Ginoong
Barako 2017. Nine men from different parts of the city will vie to become the city's
new historical heritage ambassador considering that the pageant's purpose is to
further promote the Barako Coffee as one of Lipa's finest. The coronation night
will be held at the Plaza Independencia on October 21, 2017. Well, this is all
