Gcash, the digital wallet service of Globe Telecom, has officially struck a deal with The SM Store which will enable customers to pay for their purchases using only their mobile devices, especially their smartphones.

The teamup between two big names in their respective fields would make Globe Gcash's new scan-to-pay feature available in all branches of The SM Store as well as within information booths in all SM Supermalls nationwide. This would also make the Sy family empire's in-house department store the latest to embrace a new trend where Filipino consumers can purchase their own goods without the need of having cash on hand and using their own smartphone to perform cashless transactions.

Customers must first download and install the latest version of the Globe Gcash mobile app on their smartphones, create an account and fund their Gcash wallet through cash-in centers conveniently located in different parts of the country. Once done, they can tap on Scan QR and point their phone's camera on the item's QR code to pay.

Aside from The SM Store, Gcash's scan-to-pay feature is also available in Ayala Malls, Bench stores, international fashion boutiques under Stores Specialists Incorporated (SSI), Mercado Centrale in Bonifacio Global City, and restaurants owned and operated by The Max's Group. It is assured that the feature will be rolled out in more areas soon.
