There has been a plethora of good news and fresh stories that happened
throughout 2017. Many of them were delightful and refreshing to anyone's eye
but there were some that have taken us by surprise. As we close the year that was
and begin a new chapter of our lives in 2018, it is best that we reminisce the
things and events that have rocked our world in the past 12 months.
With that in mind, let Ronie The Trubist share with you some of 2017's
breakout stories that have stood out on their own in their respective fields.

It's been about two years or so since Vivo entered the competitive and
highly-intriguing Philippine smartphone market which eventually marked the
beginning of what seems to be a new selfie revolution in our local shores. In
2017, the likes of OPPO and Vivo would continue to offer their own variety of
flagship selfie-centric smartphones with specs and features that cater to
tech-savvy Filipino consumers. In the end, many local tech critics agree to
hail the OPPO F5 and the Vivo V7+ as the top dogs when it comes to the ongoing revolution.

It is rare for Filipino indie movies to make an impact and gain
traction in the mainstream scene, but one has already captured the hearts of
many movie buffs and would eventually go on to become the highest-grossing
Filipino indie movie of all time. And that would be the romantic flick
"Kita Kita" starring the breakout love team of Alessandra de Rossi
and Empoy Marquez collectively known as Alempoy.
Who would have thought that its presence in local cinemas would exceed that
of Heneral Luna and That Thing Called Tadhana? Heck, what can you expect from a
movie that sets in Sapporo, Japan? Oh, and don't forget KZ Tandingan's
rendition of Two Less Lonely People in the World which quickly became a
consistent hit in every music charts available until now.
Moira Dela Torre
Speaking of music, if there is only one among many artists in the
Philippine music industry that is a sure-in for breakout star of 2017, it would
have to be Moira Dela Torre. Her unique singing prowess that is heard in her rendition
of Moonstar88's "Torete" and Himig Handog 2017 best song
"Titibo-Tibo" has warmed our hearts to the delightfully fullest.

There are undoubtedly hundreds of games that stand out throughout the
year that was, but PUBG was one that has captured the thrilling gamer's
attention since it was first introduced via early access. This multiplayer
survival action shooter has gained a lot of pros and cons from gaming critics,
enthusiasts and addicts alike. With various factors which can be seen in the
gameplay video below, many are convinced that it has a potential to make a dent
in the professional gaming scene.
