Who would have thought that five complete strangers from different
worlds could become the Philippines' newest singing sensations? Well, at least
that's what the online world thinks of Princess Sevillena, Kimberly Baluzo, Louie
Anne Culala, Carmela Ariola and Ace Bartolome who are now collectively known as
the Wishful 5. But for these five young and promising ladies, they have
described their journey to stardom as a "dream come true".
These five belters have bested thousands of singing hopefuls from
different parts of the country in the online reality singing competition
Wishcovery and competed in the competition's Final Singoff which took place
last March at the Smart Araneta Coliseum where Sevillena was hailed as the
grand champion winning Php2 million in cash and various prizes. It was
surprising for me to learn that the Wishcovery's final five including Sevillena
would sign an exclusive two-year recording contract with Star Music and
five-year talent management deal with Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International
(BMPI), but it was well worth the hardwork and struggles for these young ladies
considering that it was an unexpected development.
Veteran music composer Jungee Marcelo, who was one of the Wishcovery judges,
thought that the grand winner of the competition would get the recording contract;
however, the way the four other finalists belted out their own 'traditional diva'
voices have pushed the competition to sign them up as well. Aside from their
astounding and impressive voices, most of the Wishfuls have also played musical
instruments as well. Although it is undeniably clear that they will have their
own individual careers in the coming months, the five finalists who have gotten
pretty close since Wishcovery are looking forward for upcoming performances as
a group.
Months after the intense Wishcovery Final Singoff, the Wishful 5 recently
returned to the Big Dome for their successful Wishful Journey concert which
also happens to be the official launch of their debut album. Now available at
The ABS-CBN Store, the Wishful Journey album consists of 18 original and
revival tracks including the group's collaborative single "Patuloy Ang
Pangarap". Aside from the five promising artists, performing in the said concert
were Morisette, Yeng Constantino, Kris Lawrence, Daryl Ong and Pilipinas Got
Talent season 6 grand winner Kristel de Catalina.
By the way, the Wishful Journey album has already been certified platinum by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) after selling over 15,000 units in just twenty four hours after its official release in music stores. If you want to make the most of what you want to listen from these five fresh new singing sensations, then get a copy of the Wishful Journey album but be sure to have enough in your pockets since it's only Php450.00
