Star
Cinema's "The Hows of Us" created a impactful new chapter in the
history books of Philippine mainstream cinema as it became the first Filipino
film to reach the Php600 million mark in domestic box-office sales. Such a
remarkably impressive achievement is undoubtedly enough for the movie to become
the highest-grossing local film of all time and set a new bar for upcoming Filipino
mainstream movies, more particularly those participating in the 2018 Metro
Manila Film Festival.
As
officially announced by the local film production firm on social media, The
Hows of Us has earned more than Php601 million across more than 200 theaters
nationwide in just 20 days of showing. This overflowing announcement is
strongly evidenced by pictures of long lines of people who want to watch the
movie being posted and shared on social media and they have become overwhelming
sights to see since the 29th of August. And since that day, the romantic flick
has created its own impact in the big screens and eventually breaking box-office
records along the way including the highest opening day gross for a Filipino
movie (Php35.9 million).
Through
the surprisingly phenomenal success of The Hows of Us, it looks like the royal
tandem of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla have proven to the public eye
their acting prowess as a blockbuster love team to be reckoned with and they
are definitely shoe-ins as either the new box-office royalties of local cinema
or the industry's newest phenomena to be reckoned with. In fact, the earnings
made by The Hows of Us are also enough to become the highest-grossing non-MMFF
Filipino film surpassing those of A Second Chance and The Super Parental Guardians
in spades.
