2018
has been an exciting and highly interesting year for The 5 Network under the regime
of Vincent "Chot" Reyes and 2019 is slated to be more than that as it
kicked off the new year with the full transition of its sister channel AksyonTV
to a new sports channel that is bound to redefine the viewing experience of
Filipino sports buffs - 5Plus.
Officially
launched last January 13, 2019 which was eventually the day of the opening
ceremonies of the 43rd season of the PBA, 5Plus is set to give Filipino viewers
a distinctively unique sports viewing experience that cater to even those who
want to prefer watching more than just basketball and volleyball as it offers a
bevy of sports programming and content coming from no less than ESPN5's wide portfolio
of local and international sporting events and original productions. These would
include the X Games, National Cheerleading Championships (NCC), The Nationals
and much more.
To
put it in a simple manner as stated by the former two-time Gilas Pilipinas head
coach during its media launch, 5Plus is an extension of The 5 Network. It is
also a more extensive continuation of ESPN5's commitment to deliver and provide
the most compelling and comprehensive sports news coverage as well as the most
exciting lineup of local and international sporting events to a wide Filipino
audience. Meanwhile, the Radyo5 programs which were excluded from AksyonTV's
full transition to 5Plus are moved to a new channel for Cignal subscribers
which is already on test broadcast under its tentatively unique name ONE PH.

Aside
from the official launch of 5Plus, The 5 Network has also introduced a newly
refreshed logo that is regarded as a strong statement to its new identity in
the annals of Philippine television. Now reintroducing itself as a major free TV
sports channel, expect 5 to deliver some of the finest and most exciting local
and international sporting events and content that can satisfy any Filipino
sports fan plus a small but engaging taste of the latest news in and out of the
country and a sleuth of great entertainment choices to indulge. Meanwhile, 5Plus
will be complementing viewers with a slate of atypical sports content that are
set to push their television viewing experience further beyond boundaries.
5Plus is now available on
free TV via UHF channel 41 and ABS-CBN TV Plus channel 30, Cignal channel 15
nationwide and Skycable channel 59 for Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal,
Bulacan and Metro Lipa. It is also available online via live streaming at
www.5plus.com.ph. For updates on upcoming program schedules, follow 5Plus (@5PlusPH) on Facebook and Twitter.
