Ahead
of its first Payday Sale of 2019 which is taking place until the 18th of January,
Shopee Philippines has unveiled its list of the top categories and best-selling
brands of 2018. It turns out that Electronics, Health and Beauty and Home and
Living were the online shopping site's top categories for the previous year with
the returning Xiaomi, globally renouned lipstick brand Maybelline and The SM
Store topping the charts for each category.
Shopee
Philippines has recorded a whopping 300% increase on its orders within the Electronics
category throughout the year and it continues to go well as more Filipinos are
shopping for tech products online. Catering to the ongoing trend, Shopee has
on-boarded leading electronics brand on the Shopee Mall and officially launched
its Gadget Zone, a dedicated portal that features lowest price guaranteed deals
on products from renouned tech brands such as Xiaomi, Samsung and OPPO.
Speaking
of Xiaomi, the returning Chinese-based mobile brand has definitely enjoyed its
debut on Shopee Philippines with its Redmi 5 smartphone being sold out in less
than a minute during its first flash sale in April. It was also the most sought-after
brand for tech-savvy Filipino consumers considering that it was searched on Shopee's
website and mobile app more than 900,000 times in 2018. Furthermore, the
highly-anticipated Pocophone F1 made a surprisingly stunning scene in Shopee's
11.11 Big Christmas Sale and was sold out on its flash sale in less than 16
minutes.
Television
sets are also among the most popular electronics items on Shopee Philippines
with ACE, MASS and Avision being hailed as among its top five electronics
brands. On the other hand, it is surprisingly intriguing for me to learn that bath
and bedroom supplies were the most popular items for Filipino consumers in the Home
and Living category considering that an average of more than 2,000 of these
products were sold in the country everyday while around 400 stainless steel
straws were also sold per day on Shopee Philippines in line with the global
trend of cutting down on the use of plastic.
The
SM Store has literally enjoyed its robust performance over the year since it
became one of Shopee's overwhelming network of partner brands and stores in the
Philippines. In fact, it became one of the best-selling brands during Shopee's
12.12 Big Christmas Sale with insulated tumblers, oil diffusers and hard case
luggage bags among the hottest products at the time. Leave it to SM in offering
a delectable bunch of unique products such as these which is one of the main
reasons why the largest department store chain in the country is the top brand
in the Home and Living category for 2018.
The Health and Beauty rounds off Shopee Philippines' top categories of the previous year considering that many of its users are snapping up their own choice of cosmetics and skincare products. Maybelline's success, more particularly in the site's 12.12 Birthday Sale, was driven by its recently-launched products that are unprecedentedly huge hits in the online shopping market. Furthermore, there are some users who are also interested in skincare and personal grooming with the likes of P&G, Nivea, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, and Garnier being listed among the top brands in the Home and Living category. On the other hand, there was also an increase in demand for electrical appliances and power tools headlined by TCL, Bosch and Lotus among others.
