It
is without question or doubt that Google is one of the most prominent tech brands
in the Philippines today as strongly evidenced by its presence through its
local office and the overwhelming support of millions of Filipino internet
users towards the likes of YouTube and Android. Now, one of the world's leading
and most active brands is keen on providing free, fast and high-quality
internet connectivity to more Filipinos as it is set to bring its own
initiative to our local shores in the coming weeks.
Through
its partnership with leading Philippine telcos PLDT and Smart Communications,
Google is rolling out a hefty number of Google Stations across different parts
of the country. Google Stations are basically free WiFi hotspots where anyone
can connect to the World Wide Web on their smartphones, PCs and mobile devices
and communicate with their friends and loved ones. The Philippines will be the
fifth country in the world to adopt Google's new initiative after India,
Mexico, Thailand and Indonesia.
Google
is targeting to develop and activate 50 Google Stations in different locations
across the nation as provided by PLDT and Smart and hopes that they will be in
operation by the end of either February or March 2019. These locations include
the following:
* Light

Aside
from bringing new high-quality WiFi hotspots, Google has also introduced new services
and features on some of their products that would help improve the daily
digital lifestyle of Filipinos. These include Google Job Search for jobseekers,
Google Lite for first-time internet users, and the Digiskarteng Pinay series of
tutorial videos for the modern practical Filipina.
