Two years ago, I wrote an article on how one of the finest delicacies in the province of Batangas steadily began its own road to prominence after seeing it being featured in a local lifestyle show on cable. Now, it looks like those who want to try out such delicacy on their own right may need to consider choosing any one they prefer the most. It may be one where it is served in various food stops where it suits your budget, an underwhelming staple in a local fastfood joint or one that is now being offered in a fine dining restaurant. For those who are curious which delicacy I'm talking about, it would happen to be the infamous Batangas lomi.

A few weeks ago, I was surprised upon learning and discovering that Batangas lomi is now being served on one of the finest and oldest living Filipino-style fine dining restaurants in the country, Max's, and eventually felt being curious on how will that on the house that fried chicken was first cooked and served be able to fare over the likes of Lipa City Panciteria, Benok's, Renfel and Chowking in terms of look, feel and taste. Luckily, Jayzar Recinto of Hello Lipa and Hello Batangas fame was able to try it out with his friends and loved ones and shared his thoughts on social media.

Based on what I've read on Facebook, I feel satisfyingly delightful to learn that the Batangas lomi of Max's can be at par with prominent lomi houses across the city of Lipa and different parts of Batangas when it comes to look, taste and even the added condiments. The only problem for those who are dying to try it out is that it costs Php169 per serving which would make them have second thoughts. If they're not into it, they can alternatively try out Chowking's version of the lomi since it is more affordable than that of Max's though it is not within the budget-friendly tape when you add a drink.

In my case, I would rather try Batangas lomi anytime at one where it is served at least Php50 or Php60 which is the right fit to save part of your cold harded cash. But the fact that a delicacy like lomi would be served at a fine dining restaurant is surprisingly intriguing for me. Regardless, this is another strong statement of how prominently known a BatangueƱo delicacy is among people, travelers and even foodies in and out of the province considering that it would literally give a bit more flavor to Filipino-style fine dining. I may not be good at showing my side when it comes to delicacies and restaurants, but I am proud to say that I have tried and tasted my favorite Batangas lomi and will live to try it all again and tell the tale.
