The
surprisingly strong traction and success of the Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas 3x3
which is the first of its kind in the Philippines is definitely a strong
statement to the country's enduring strides to bring 3x3 basketball to national
prominence and consciousness as part of the vision of the Samahang Basketball
ng Pilipinas (SBP). Now, a new endeavor is on the horizon as the Philippines is
set to host the first regional 3x3 tournament known as the Super Quest.
Slated
to take place on April 6th and 7th following the conclusion of the Chooks-To-Go
Pilipinas 3x3, the Chooks-To-Go 3x3 Asia Pacific Super Quest is a multi-tournament
qualification tour organized by Chooks-To-Go and FIBA where the best teams across
the Asia Pacific region compete to qualify for a pre-determined World Tour
Masters. The Super Quest also happens to be part of SBP's newfound commitment
to not only promote world-class 3x3 basketball to the Philippines, but also
help boost the country's rankings to make it to the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Summer
Olympics.
The
six-legged Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas 3x3 President's Cup is nearing its grand
finale which will be held on the 31st of March, but the twelve pioneering
squads from different parts of the country are set to further showcase their
own strut and stuff in the 3x3 stage with bigger stakes on the line upon the
announcement of the Super Quest. Aside from the Php1 million cash prize for the
champion team, the top two teams will automatically qualify for the Chooks-To-Go
3x3 Asia Pacific Super Quest where a spot in the upcoming FIBA 3x3 World Tour
await top placers.
For
FIBA 3x3 managing director Alex Sanchez who was at the Super Quest press
conference last February 19th, Chooks-To-Go's initiatives for 3x3 basketball in
the Philippines are considered excellent news following the SBP's successful
hosting of the FIBA 3x3 World Cup in Manila accelerating the development of the
sport in the country. He also stated that there is no reason why the
Philippines cannot have successful teams playing at World Tour level due to its
depth of talent and love for the game.
