It
has been about five months since Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid was
officially announced as one of the judges of the upcoming singing competition
Idol Philippines at the start of her new chapter as a Kapamilya. Now, through
the country's most watched and most trusted flagship news program TV Patrol,
the full slate of judges for the Philippine edition of the globally renouned
Idol franchise has been revealed and one of them is handpicked by no less than
the company that owns the franchise which is Fremantle Media.
Following
their successful three-day Valentines concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum
last February, the Songbird will once again team up with Asia's phenomenal star
Vice Ganda as they lead the slate of the finest in the local entertainment industry,
especially the music scene, that will discover fresh new sounds that are slated
to make an impact. Well, it is not obvious as you think it is since Vice has
experience as judge of Pilipinas Got Talent and Pinoy Boyband Superstar which
makes sense why Fremantle chose him as one of the judges in Idol Philippines.
Joining
the Songbird and the Songhorse in the full slate of Idol Philippines judges are
multimedia prince James Reid who is set to star in the upcoming movie
adaptation of Pedro Penduko and multi-awarded singer-songwriter Moira Dela
Torre who is known for her unbelievably chilling hugot songs that captivated millions
of music lovers around the world. The reveal became a top trending topic on
social media and received an overwhelmingly strong positive reception from
Filipino netizens, but there are those who were not satisfied with the announcement
and question the credibility of the judges only to be slapped by the defense of
various Philippine music icons. And who can you blame the likes of Jaya and even the Idol Philippines host Billy Crawford for
that?
With
these in mind and on hand, no Filipino netizen should never question their credibility
to discover new talents and even the comparison of Idol Philippines to other
singing competitions that have been airing on ABS-CBN including the ongoing
Tawag ng Tanghalan on It's Showtime since they offer their own flavors that are
highly regarded as incomparable. Nevertheless, it's good to know that there are
those who are satisfied with the judges' reveal and even those who are defending
Fremantle's best choices. Besides, one's credibility can only be measured by
his or her actions so expect what we can expect from Regine, Vice, Moira and
James when the search for the next Idol Philippines begins on April.
