Thousands of young minds in the Philippines have reaped the benefits of
various scholarship programs being offered by the government and the private
sector and are already contributing well to the continuing progress and
development in their respective areas, but there are times when some of these
former scholars decide to take their time off and give back to the programs
that have been a major factor to their endearing success in their lives and careers.
This is what six former scholars in the city of Lipa have done becoming an inspiration
to others who aspire to be like them.
On March 20, 2019, six special young-ins across different parts of the
City For All Seasons were able to take their time off from their respective
workplaces and help out in the screening process for applicants who are vying
to score a scholarship program from no less than SM Foundation, the main public
service subsidiary of SM Prime Holdings Inc., which took place at SM City Lipa.
What makes these six special is that they were able to maintain their
scholarship status, finish their studies in college and begin fulfilling their plans
in the future through entering the real and corporate world.
Among these scholars who have helped out in the SM Foundation
Scholarship Program screening process were Grace Dalisay from Barangay Mabini
and Emerson Lajara of Barangay Uno where I was born. Now working as an Accountant
for Aboitiz Energy in Bonifacio Global City, Dalisay plans to further her
studies in Law ahead of her foreseeable future. On the other hand, Lajara is the
first among three siblings who finished college with a degree in Computer
Engineering. However, his parents have passed away weeks prior to his
graduation ceremony. Currently, Lajara is working as a call center agent in
Accenture and plans to study abroad in the coming years.
Joining Dalisay and Lajara in this uniquely rare occasion were Mary
Rose De Chavez, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an auditor at Price
Waterhouse Cooper Auditing Firm; Janine Kalaw, a licensed Electronics and
Communications Engineer and Process Engineer at Amkor Electronics; Pink Marina
Zarie Cusi, a licensed teacher now working at STI College Batangas; and Errol
Dimaculangan, a licensed Civil Engineer and currently working as Project
Engineer for Camella Lipa. These successful millennial are just strong examples
of what any scholarship program being offered to them can help underprivileged and
deserving students fulfill their life's dreams and desires in the foreseeable future.
