"Halalan
2019: Ipanalo Boses ng Pilipino", ABS-CBN News' comprehensive coverage of
the 2019 Philippine midterm elections, was without any doubt the most watched
election coverage in the country and has drawn a dominant presence on digital platforms
and social media with nearly 50 million page views online and multiple top trending
topics.
Based
on data from Kantar Media Philippines, ABS-CBN News' television special on the
2019 elections swept the entire day of May 13th from dawn to dusk as the most
preferred coverage in the Philippines over that of its rival network. TV Patrol,
the number one news program in the country, registered a national TV rating of
29.2% which is almost ten points more than its rival primetime news program's
19.9%. All throughout the day, Halalan 2019 on ABS-CBN drew more viewers with
its morning coverage scoring a rating of 5.7% which is slightly higher than GMA
Network's 5.4% and the afternoon telecast rated 12.7% against E19's 9.8%.
Meanwhile,
more late night viewers preferred the Kapamilya network's continuing coverage
on this year's elections via its late night newscast Bandila scoring a national
TV rating of exactly 6% ahead of its GMA's 5.1%. In the online world, ABS-CBN News
Digital drew 46.7 million page views on May 13 and 14 which is 434% more than
its average daily views. On the other hand, halalanresults.abs-cbn.com,
the interactive and real-time results page for the elections, earned 25.9
million page views during the same period. The preference of Filipino viewers
has been translated to social media as well with the hashtags #Halalan2019,
#HalalanAberya and #HalalanResults being among the top trending topics
nationwide on Twitter on May 13th. In fact, #Halalan2019 was mentioned 276,294
times alone which is more than the combined number of mentions for GMA News'
hashtags #Eleksyon2019 and #PusuanAngTotoo.
