Nadine Lustre emerged as the big winner of MYX Music Awards
2019 which was held last May 15, 2019 at the ABS-CBN Vertis Tent with the most
number of wins including Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Music
Video of the Year for her song "St4y Up", and Media Soundtrack of the
Year for "Prom" with her on and off-screen partner James Reid. On the
other hand, the phenomenal song "Buwan" originally rendered by Juan Karlos
Labajo was hailed as Song of the Year while the iconic Filipino band Rivermaya
was honored as this year's MYX Magna Awardee for its contributions to the
Philippine music industry.
Darren Espanto, Moira Dela Torre and I Belong To The Zoo have won two
awards each in the said event as voted by the public. Espanto, which first entered
the local music scene as The Voice Kids season 1 runner-up, took home the Male
Artist of the Year award and the Remake of the Year recognition for his rendition
of the popular 90s dance hit Dying Inside To Hold You. Meanwhile, the Idol
Philippine judge won Mellow Music Video of the Year for her song
"Tagpuan" and Collaboration of the Year for her collaboration with
December Avenue in singing "Kung Di Rin Lang Ikaw". I Belong To The
Zoo bested other newly popular artists and bands to become the 2019 MYX Music
Awards New Artist of the Year and was even chosen as MYX Bandarito Performance
of the Year.
Other winners include BoybandPH as Group of the Year, "In My
Prison" performed by IV of Spades as Rock Music Video of the Year,
"Nadarang" sung by Shanti Dope as Urban Music Video of the Year, "Fake
Love" by the globally phenomenal all-male Korean pop group BTS as
International Music Video of the Year, internet sensation AC Bonifacio as MYX
Celebrity VJ of the Year, and Maris Racal as Music Video Guest Appearance of
the Year for her role in the music video of the song "Lumang
Tugtugin" by IƱigo Pascual.
Jolina Magdangal-Escueta led a new generation of singers including Jona,
Julie Ann San Jose, Maysh Baay and Moira Dela Torre in singing the all-time
hits of the iconic Filipino band Rivermaya which were loved by generations of
Filipino music lovers through the band's 25-year journey. Its current members headlined
by Miguel Escueta graced the stage and eventually received the MYX Magna Awardee
2019 trophy. In case you didn't know, the MYX Magna Award is given to local
music icons who have made their own contributions to the industry over the
course of their careers.
Furthermore, MYX has partnered the world's leading music streaming and
subscription service Spotify for its Most Streamed Artist award based on the
ladder's 2018 Wrapped data. Moira was the first to receive the award considering
that she is the most streamed artist in the Philippines as stated in Spotify's
reports. She even teamed up with Ben&Ben for a special jamming session
where they perform some of their Spotify-recorded renditions of classic
Filipino hits from the APO Hiking Society and hitmaker Rey Valera. Also gracing
one of the most anticipated events in the Philippine music scene were MNL48 and
MYX VJ Search 2019 finalists among others and let's not forget the MYX VJs who
have hosted the said event including AI Dela Cruz, Robi Domingo, Sharlene San
Pedro and Sunny Kim among others.
