2019
is highly regarded as a breakthrough year for the professional gaming scene in
the Philippines with SIBOL representing the country in the 2019 Southeast Asian
Games on November and The Nationals featuring some of the best and finest pro
gamers and eSports athletes in the country. Now, premiere Filipino digital
lifestyle purveyor Globe Telecom and Southeast Asian eSports brand Mineski are
set to break barriers in the industry following the launch of Liyab earlier
this year with the introduction of its all-female eSports team Haliya.
Named
after the local masked moon goddess who battles monsters like the Bakunawa in
the Bicolano folklore, Liyab Haliya is a mixture of female veterans and rookie
eSports athletes who are slated to compete in various local and international
tournaments in the foreseeable future featuring two of the most popular eSports
titles in the country today - League of Legends (LoL) and Arena of Valor (AoV).
Competing in the local scene since 2016, Haliya recently made their
international competition debut at the Female eSports League (FSL) Elite LoL
Tournament last September 5-8, 2019 at the Suntec Convention Center in
Singapore.
