More than 8,000 runners coming from different parts of the country have
gathered on the early morning of September 22, 2019 to compete in the Batangas
City leg of the 43rd National MILO Marathon which was successfully made possible
with the support and involvement of the City Youth Affairs Office headed by Glecy
Clet and the cooperation of city and DepEd Batangas City officials, the private
sector and participating runners as well.
Veteran runner Luisa Raterta of Laguna finished at the top of the women's
21K elimination category with the time of 1:33:14 which earned her the chance
to qualify for the National Finals which will be held on January 2020 in Iloilo
City. Raterta was followed by Mirasol Abad and Rocel Maestro. In the men's 21K
elimination category, 40-year old multi-titled trail runner Eugene Postrado qualified
for the National Finals after finishing first place with the time of 1:55:56.
Isidro Perpetua and Jujit De Asis have finished second and third place,
respectively, in the said category. Others who have finished first in the
Batangas City leg include the following: Lyka Mae Raterta and John Cyril Torres
in 3K, Emmalyn Taypin and Norbert Cailan in 5K, and Jay Ann Labasamo and Evelou
Abutas in 10K.

Among the more than thousands of participants who have competed and run
in the Batangas City leg of this year's National MILO Marathon were students,
teachers and staff of Batangas National High School which won a special award for
having the largest delegation of participants in the event. The Batangas City
leg culminated with a cheer dance competition participated by schools, colleges
and universities in Batangas and Southern Luzon. Padre Imo Luna Memorial Elementary
School of San Jose, Batangas took home the cheerdancing championship crown in
the elementary category while San Pascual Senior High School and Calamba City
College were hailed champions in the secondary and college levels, respectively.
