It would seem that every Filipino's well-loved red bee then and now has
more reasons for us to be more joyful than usual as it is now beginning to make
its shift to a more environmental friendly way of delivering our favorite Jolly
meals with the initial rollout of its new delivery e-bikes in three different branches
across Mega Manila - Emerald Avenue (Ortigas Center, Pasig City), BGC Triangle
(Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City and Molino in Bacoor, Cavite - in the
coming months.
Taking the lead in revolutionizing environmentally conscious
transportation for fast food delivery in the Philippines, Jollibee Foods
Corporation partnered with the Department of Transportation and ECOS Environmental
Foundation Inc., a company that seeks to achieve environmentally sustainable
development, for the launch and rollout of the country's first road legal
electric bikes in its bid to reduce carbon footprint and impact in the environment.
With these being rolled out in bustling Central Business Districts (CBDs),
Jollibee also aims to reduce emissions in an ever-crowded metropolis which is
set to play a significantly important role in mitigating climate change.
Made and assembled in Japan, Jollibee's delivery e-bikes are
lightweight, do not need gasoline or fuel and come equipped with e-push
technology which makes them easier to ride in rough terrain and even steep
slopes. Compared to traditional motorcycles, these e-bikes have a longer motor
lifespan of 15 to 20 years and a four to five-year battery life. Furthermore, they
are noise-free and run with zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Thus,
long-term operational costs are made cheaper, more economical and eco-friendly.
Following their pilot run, Jollibee plans to eventually replace its existing
motorcycle fleet with e-bikes in the foreseeable future.
