The
Miss Universe 2019 beauty pageant marked the end of the Philippines' long placement
in the top ten for years in recent memory since 2010 considering that it was
won by Miss South Africa. But believe it or not, the prestigious pageant marked
the end of something else and will bare a fresh new start that is starting to
change the landscape of the search for who will represent the Philippines in
the next Miss Universe in the foreseeable future.
As
announced on the Miss Universe Philippines' Facebook page, the Miss Universe
Organization has officially ended its remarkably long but memorably monumental ties
with the Araneta Group and Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI). For
fifty years, these organizations have made an indelible mark in the international
pageant scene for celebrating the intelligence, beauty and grace of hundreds of
Filipina queens and for garnering several international titles through the
years. The hardwork and commitment of the Araneta Group and BPCI are the main
reasons why the local pageant scene is known worldwide to be solid.
As
their ties with Miss Universe are coming to an end, Araneta Group and BPCI will
continue to exert efforts in keeping Philippine pageantry as solid as it is and
celebrate the beauty, grace, intelligence and inspiring stories of aspiring
Filipina beauty queens with Binibining Pilipinas, the largest and most
prestigious beauty pageant in the country. On the other hand, in line with its
vision aligned with the pageant's transformative purpose, the Miss Universe
Organization forged a partnership with Miss Universe Philippines, a new organization
featuring a fresh team that will lead the country to its continued quest to
share the beauty and grace of the Filipina to the rest of the world.
The
Miss Universe Philippines organization will be helmed by Miss Universe 2011 second
runner-up Shamcey Supsup-Lee as national director. She will be joined by Albert
Andrada as Design Council Head, Jonas Gaffud of Aces and Queens as Creative Director,
Lia Ramos as Head of Women Empowerment and Charity, Atty. Nad Bronce as Head of
Legal Affairs and Mario Garcia as Business Development and Marketing Head. With
the continued support of pageant fans and communities that inspired the Miss Universe
Organization to take this crucial step forward and rooted in the same strong
foundations that have earned the country title after title in the past half century,
Miss Universe Philippines is all poised and ready to bring the franchise to
greater heights. With these in mind, we can all be assured that a bright and beautiful
future is upon us with the Filipina at the center of it.
