Thousands of families were forced to flee their homes and livelihood after heavy ashfall caused by Taal Volcano's phreatic eruption began to cover Volcano Island, commonly known as Pulo by its residents, and several towns in Batangas and Cavite last January 12th, and ABS-CBN was among the first to provide assistance to those who are seeking refuge in evacuation centers true to its mission of being in the service of the Filipino. Now, the premiere media and entertainment company reassures that no evacuee will be left behind as it officially launched its "Tulong-Tulong Sa Taal" public service campaign.

Aims to unite the nation in helping those who are affected by the recent eruption and continuous activity of Taal Volcano, "Tulong-Tulong Sa Taal" brings together the efforts of the entire Kapamilya network for the Taal Volcano eruption victims - from relief operations led by ABS-CBN Foundation's Sagip Kapamilya program to the delivery of "Serbisyo At Saya" in evacuation centers through the help of ABS-CBN's roster of employees, artists, programs and subsidiaries. It also has an information campaign led by Kuya Kim Atienza who gave out tips on disaster preparedness airing on television, radio and digital media on top of the regular news reports and updates from ABS-CBN News.

As of January 16th, 17,016 families or 85,080 individuals were given relief packs while 5,403 have enjoyed hot meals prepared from the soup kitchen. On the other hand, ABS-CBN Foundation's humanitarian assistance arm provided psychological services to 663 individuals in over a hundred evacuation centers in Batangas and Southern Luzon. Under the "Tulong-Tulong Sa Taal Campaign", Sagip Kapamilya's relief operations will continue and further intensify as it tends to reach and serve as many evacuees as possible. Meanwhile, "Serbisyo At Saya" caravans have begun rolling out and roaming in evacuation centers to offer medical missions, fun activities and other useful services to ensure the physical, emotional and psychological well-being of displaced Kapamilyas.

Through the "Serbisyo At Saya" caravans, evacuees who are suffering from skin conditions, wounds, hypertension, pulmonary and eyesight issues, psychological trauma and other ailments caused by the Taal eruption and living conditions inside evacuation centers were provided free medical advice, treatment and medicine while free reading glasses, hygiene and laundry kits were given away to ease the burden of the people in these temporary shelters. On the other hand, there is a Tulong Center helpdesk to receive and facilitate assistance to Kapamilyas in need. Moreover, our countrymen are starting to feel true Kapamilya love with volunteer employees and artists cheering them up in fun games, a mobile soup kitchen for everyone and storytelling and arts and crafts sessions for children. Adult evacuees can also remain updated on the latest happenings in and out of the country while the kids get to catch up on their lessons with SKYcable and Knowledge Channel setting up free viewing stations in select evacuation centers.

Aside from these ongoing programs and services, ABS-CBN also forged several other efforts under the "Tulong-Tulong Sa Taal" umbrella campaign where the public can take part in projects benefitting the Taal Volcano eruption victims such as the Ligtas Bag drive where people can donate cash or items for "go bags" dubbed as Ligtas Bags that will be given to evacuees. People are also encouraged to prepare their own Ligtas Bag for themselves and their families considering that it should be contained with food and useful things in case of any emergency situation. This assures that even small acts of generosity and kindness by ordinary Filipinos can make a huge impact.

Taal Volcano is now under Alert Level 3. However, thousands of displaced families due to the volcano's recent eruption and continuing activity remain in evacuation centers across the province of Batangas and are still to trying to move on from the disaster and start all over again. Through "Tulong-Tulong Sa Taal", ABS-CBN will continue to assist the Taal eruption victims to the best of its efforts with the help of the Filipino nation. ABS-CBN Foundation is still accepting cash and in-kind donations for the Taal Volcano eruption victims. For more details, visit @abscbnfoundationinc on Facebook.
