The deal was signed last February 7, 2020 inside the Mineski Global Philippines headquarters in San Juan City by PCCL chairman Oscar Reyes and president Reynaldo D. Gamboa as well as Mineski Global founder and CEO Ronald "Rhom" Robins and country manager Ron Castro. Joining them to take part in the momentous occasion were PCCL Corporate Secretary Atty. Pablo De Borja, PCCL eSports Manager JP De Borja, Mineski Global Head Of Strategic Partnerships Marlon Marcelo and former TV5 president and CEO/Gilas Pilipinas head coach Vincent "Chot" Reyes.
With the partnership, Mineski Global's advocacy of responsible gaming and high-octane professional gaming action will be on the spotlight for the second season of PCCL eSports which is slated to start this summer. The PCCL-Mineski partnership also hopes to promote a sustainable eSports community in the country. "It's time to show everyone that eSports represent a career viable option, inclusive, and it should be accorded the same treatment as regular sports. PCCL and Mineski are mindful of our responsibility to promote positive values through eSports and gaming," said Mineski Global founder and CEO Ronald Robins during the contract signing.
On the other hand, PCCL President Rey Gamboa stated that the inclusion of eSports at the 30th Southeast Asian Games held in the Philippines late last year where several Filipino student-athletes performed well against the best gamers in the region was an eye-opener. He added, "eSports is another field in sports where Filipinos can excel and win honors for the country in international competition. For this reason, the PCCL has included eSports in its grassroots and school-based development programs."
