Six of these finalists are produced by the organization's documentary production arm ABS-CBN DocuCentral including veteran broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez-Roxas' "HIV Rising" tackling the growing number of HIV cases in the country and "Invisible" which focuses on issues surrounding mental health. On the other hand, two documentaries by New York Festivals Gold World Medal winner Jeff Canoy also made the final round - "Ang Babae Ng Balangiga (The Woman Of Balangiga)" that bares the untold story of Balangiga's unsung heroine Casiana Nacionales and "Alab (Ablaze) which celebrates the courage and camaraderie of Filipino firefighters.
"Local Legends", another former New York Festival winner, added two more finalists for the Philippines' premiere media and entertainment company ABS-CBN with its feature on Ric Obenza who dedicated his life restoring the forests in Davao and an episode about legendary artist Ramon Orlina who is highly regarded as the "father of Philippine glass sculpture". Finally, two of the network's current affairs programs #NoFilter and now-on-hiatus Red Alert secured final nominations respectively for their episodes "Tao Po (Is Anybody Home)" about the lives of a mother and her daughter who has special needs and "Tigdas (Measles)" that focused on the underlying effects of a contagious virus especially among children.
The awarding ceremony of the 2020 New York Festivals World Film and TV Awards is slated to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 21, 2020.
