If you are thinking of putting up a gaming tournament featuring what you are usually playing during your spare time, I'm with you on that but it would take time, energy and other factors to make it all possible. Fortunately, Facebook Gaming recently launched a new feature that will let you do that without any worries and have those who are interested in competing in your own tournament but can't be in the same place physically gather virtually and its name is Tournaments. You may think that the name of FB Gaming's new feature sounds simply cheesy, but it's better than just simply watching and feeling jealous.
Originally designed for live gaming events and aims to mitigate the strain of social distancing, Tournaments allows Facebook Gaming users to create and organize their own gaming tournaments in a variety of formats whether they can use double-elimination or round-robin on their virtual brackets. The feature is intended for every kind of tournament - from casual to high-level eSports-esque play - and is built directly into the Facebook Gaming platform which means that even creators can host and eventually stream their own fan tournaments. Users can also take advantage of Facebook's fundraising tools to donate cash raised directly to relief organizations which are essential for those organizing their own charity gaming events.
Facebook Gaming's Tournaments is in early access considering that such feature is not yet implemented on other streaming platforms including Twitch with the exception of Twitch Prime which is geared towards streamers and professional gamers by invite-only. It remains to be seen whether these platforms would develop similar features for their massive, currently cooped-up user bases, but it would be surprising to expect announcement regarding these possibilities in the foreseeable future. For the meantime, Facebook Gaming may just be the only platform you need for your own gaming competitions regardless of their purpose.
