AMA Education System, the largest network of IT schools in the Philippines, officially announced that all of its schools nationwide will make the shift from physical to online learning for school year 2020-2021 and it is set to start on June 2020. The initative is in response to the call of both the Department Of Education (DepEd) and Commission On Higher Education (CHED) on academic institutions to ensure the availability of public education in the midst of the current community quarantines imposed across the country due to the continuing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this set-up, AMAES students will be able to continue learning while staying safe within the comforts of their own homes.

The following schools nationwide will be implementing online classes throughout the school year: AMA University and Colleges, ABE International Business College, ACLC (AMA Computer Learning Center) and ACLC Colleges, St. Augustine School Of Nursing, Sta. Veronica College in La Union, South Luzon College in Cavite and AMA Basic Education. Once schools and universities are allowed to resume physical classes, AMA will require students to be physically present in schools three days a week while the remaining days of the said period are reserved for online classes. AMA has been previously using the blended learning model, offering full-online degrees and various courses through its AMA Online Education program. These offerings include Senior High School strands as well as college degrees in Business, Communication, Engineering and Information Technology.

Since the implementation of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in March, class and work suspensions in most schools are suspended, more particularly within public schools. On the other hand, several educational institutions are operating during the said period through a skeletal workforce while there are those staging online classes to students within the comforts of their own home. These were made possible to protect millions of students, teachers and non-teaching personnel across the country from the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the May 11, 2020 briefing, the Department of Education (DepEd) stated that private schools may start SY 2020-2021 as early as June but no physical classes are allowed until at least August 24th which is the tentative start of classes for the said school year in the Philippines.

Since its inception in the 1980s, AMA Education System has been a pioneer in providing Information Technology (IT) education in the Philippines through the years and its mission literally expanded to a wider reach outside the country with various AMA campuses in several countries across the globe. With the uncertainty of when physical classes will be allowed after the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is without doubt that AMA will be the first to ensure that their students will be given the best education even within the safety and comfort of their own homes. Interested applicants for the AMA Online Education program may pre-register online at www.amaes.edu.ph.
