It was Jim Crockett Promotions' World Championship Wrestling that introduced me to studio wrestling, a concept in the professional wrestling business that was once a platform showcasing the business' rising stars in front of a small audience during the old days, although I've never understood its value in the business and considering that I've enjoyed the action on late afternoons during my first years in college. More than a decade later, NWA Powerrr reintroduced the concept to a new generation of professional wrestling fans and literally bolstered my undaunting love for the sport.

In one corner of the thriving professional wrestling industry where All Elite Wrestling steadily began dominating the scene with its competitive nature, IMPACT Wrestling enjoying its return to prominence while embracing its past and Major League Wrestling continuously making its own mark lies what was once an aging promotion that has been known for wrestling's finest and most prominent names in the 70s and 80s such as Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, and Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat among others and is now under the management of William Corgan - whom music lovers know him as Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins - which aims to rekindle the organization's spirit towards today's modern world flavored with its long storied history and tradition through the years. NWA Powerrr, without any question in my mind, is the culmination of the NWA's new purpose and eventually made its own mark in the business with a growing number of old and new fans enjoying what is intriguingly touted as "new studio wrestling".

The GPB Studios in Atlanta, Georgia and the audience inside may be small compared to those attending IMPACT and AEW events, but the passionate aura of the fans and wrestlers building and emanating within the studio is strong proof that the combination of epic, action-packed wrestling and nostalgia can work out as long as there are those who are in need of an alternative platform that can be more exciting than the industry's big leagues. If there is something I like about NWA Powerrr, it has to be its own marquee of topnotch storylines and the prowess showcase by its mix of old and new stars as well as how its theme song personifies the nostalgia within every episode, especially "Into The Fire" by Dokken.

After I watched the main event of its first episode where Tim Storm tried everything to win back the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship from current title holder Nick Aldis but to no avail, I was completely hooked to the show and literally see how each episode can surpass its previous endeavors. Fortunately, every episode of NWA Powerrr has its own great moments with the most notable being its Season 1 final before NWA's Into The Fire PPV where The Rock n' Roll Express captured the NWA World Tag Team Championships from The Wildcards (Thomas Latimer and Royce Isaacs) for the sixth time in their long and illustrious career. Then there is Kamille, the "insurance policy" of Nick Aldis, whose presence has sparked and intrigued many wrestling fans (including myself) all throughout the show as well as the fact that she hasn't spoke since the start of the series until her out-of-the-studio interview prior to the Super Powerrr episode.

All of its 21 episodes of NWA Powerrr are available to binge-watch for free on NWA's official YouTube channel, including the recently-released Super Powerrr episode, plus certain events that literally laid the groundwork for the show. If you need something that is epic but fun and exciting to enjoy even though restrictions on self-isolation are slowly being eased, I believe that one of your best bets can be NWA Powerrr - a love letter to studio wrestling which was prominent before the growth and evolution of professional wrestling through the years.
