As the world is starting to adapt to the so-called "new normal" due to the continuing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic where staying at home, wearing face masks when going outside and physical and social distancing are encouraged, the Philippines' largest fast food chain Jollibee is gearing up the extra mile to ensure the safety of its customers while continuing to deliver quality service. As more stores are being re-opened and dine-in services resumed in select areas, Jollibee intensified the implementation of safety measures and safety protocols for both customers and employees alike.

The customer safety journey starts with the crew and store preparations. All store crew members are required to have their temperature checked prior to entry. While inside, they are mandated to wear full protective gear, observe physical distancing and observe regular handwashing and sanitation. The entire store - including fixtures and utensils - undergo intensive cleaning and sanitation before, during and after business operations. Team members are also given vitamin supplements to boost their immune system and telemedicine support to immediately attend to their health needs, ensuring that they are all healthy and fit to provide the best service to customers the Alagang Jollibee way.

For the customers, they need to go through a 3-step safety check before going inside the store to take their orders - stepping on disinfectant mats, wearing of face masks, and checking of temperature. Door handles, surfaces and other store fixtures are disinfected every 30 minutes. For stores with self-ordering kiosks, team members ensure that these kiosks are also disinfected before and after use. Stringent safety protocols are also in place for food preparation and handling. Jollibee has also installed counter guards at the main counter as an additional safety precaution for customers and cashiers during order taking, which will eventually be available in all Jollibee stores nationwide.

In addition, table guards on dining tables are planned to be installed for dine-in customers. Jollibee has also placed table, floor and seat markers throughout the store layout so that customers are consistently guided to maintain at least one-meter distance for queuing and two-meter distance for dine-in. To make sure that all the protocols are properly adhered to, Jollibee has assigned official Alagang Jollibee Hygiene Ambassadors in every store who will oversee the strict implementation of safety precautions such as wearing of safety gear, physical distancing, no-touch and cashless transactions and intensified cleaning and sanitation. Furthermore, Jollibee has also dedicated a priority lane for frontliners giving medical and healthcare personnel, police and military personnel and other people involved in providing necessities and essential services preferential access when ordering in stores.

As a way of welcoming customers and diners to its stores while ensuring them that their safety remains the brand's top priority, Jollibee released a new video online on its social media channels entitled "Beeda Ang Safety At Saya" which captures the high level of safety standards that the brand adheres to - from safety checks for employees and customers to cleaning and sanitation measures and in-store safety signages and markers - in true Jollibee fashion and in compliance with the health protocol guidelines set by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for dine-in restaurants and fastfood establishments. These high-level safety standards are also applied to Jollibee's delivery service where measures such as intensified sanitation, physical distancing and no-touch transactions have been implemented since the start of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period last March.
