The success of the FIBA eSports Open 2020 is credited to the viewership and social media numbers with the event broadcasting over 100 different locations globally and over 5 million views on the official social media channels of FIBA and the participating National Federations. Case in point, Spain alone generated 2.1 million impressions, 1.7 million views and 9.8 million viewed hours while reaching 1.4 million unique visitors on its Twitter account. Since the conclusion of the inaugural event, plans are underway for FIBA's next eSports tournament and more than 35 National Federations have expressed their interest to take part in the next event.
The FIBA eSports Open 2020 series was produced from a brand-new eSports studio in Riga, Latvia with a daily show featuring the hottest games on the said day. Fifty-four games were broadcasted to over 100 different destinations across the globe, equalling to a total of 40 hours worth of production. Each game was streamed live on FIBA's Facebook, YouTube and Twitch channels while each of the 18 games included in the live show had live English commentary. FIBA had an extensive team of people working with ten National Federations through the use of Spalk in order to add their commentary to the games in their respective languages.
The Philippines sweeped Indonesia, 5-0, to capture and take home the Southeast Asian conference championship during the FIBA eSports Open 2020 with the country's largest telecommunications companies, PLDT and Smart, supporting the team's journey towards glory in the said event. Other countries that have topped their respective conferenced and emerged victorious among participating nations around the world are Australia (Oceania), Argentina (South America), Italy (Europe) and Saudi Arabia (Middle East). Players participating in the FIBA eSports Open 2020 were using NBA 2K's Pro-Am Mode to compete in their respective conference games.
