This year's edition of the award-giving ceremony for the student leaders of the college community was inspired by an optimist poem from Robert Frost entitled "The Road Not Taken". The central theme of the event depicts student leaders' outstanding moves of taking risks for service despite facing unexpected challenges such as a volcanic eruption and the pandemic. The theme replaced the planned 'modern Filipiniana' motif in celebration of the rich history of the Philippines' incorporation in the age of modernization, which was foregone due to recent developments. It also marked the end of the term of the current leaders of various organizations within the campus as the event acknowledged their sacrifices and efforts to open up a new chapter to the next generation of student-leaders who will take the road they have crossed during their time.
The virtual event, which was streamed live on DLSL's official Facebook page, opened with an invocation followed by welcome remarks from College Student Activity Offices head Protacio Mea and Director Of Student Services Welmer Adajar. The awarding began with the Minor Merits from Merit for Organization, President and Adviser. Green Spirit awards were also given to Lasallian Youth Volunteers who took part in the apprenticeship program. This was soon followed by the awarding of the Major Merits, FSC Awards, and the Top Division Organizations for this year.
The Lasallian League Of Nurses bagged three major awards in the PROF division including the Top 1 PROF Organization, Excellence Award for Organization Presidency and Outstanding Organization Officer while Les Lasallian Lumieres dominated the SCRO division with five major awards including the Top 1 SCRO Organization, Beacon of Communion, Outstanding Organization Advocacy, Excellence Award for Organization Presidency and Outstanding Organization Officer. For the SPIN division, the Samahan ng Lasalyanong Retratista bagged the Top 1 SPIN Organization, Beacon of Communion and Outstanding Organization Officer awards. From the neighbor of good news and fresh stories, congratulations to all the winning student organizations in the 2020 Gawad Lasalyano!!
