Globe, eSports AcadArena Bares Summer Quarter 2020

Globe Telecom, the premiere purveyor of the Filipino digital lifestyle experience, continues to empower the growing professional gaming scene in the Philippines with its partnership with eSports AcadArena, the country's leading campus eSports initiative, for Summer Quarter 2020 which features exciting programs for campus eSports organizations to participate and take part in until September.

Participants from different schools, colleges and universities from different parts of the country will get a chance to hone their skills in casting, productions and other eSports-related disciplines through a series of courses and talks handpicked by their respective organizations. They will also score a unique opportunity to take their skills to the test as they help produce gaming tournaments powered by eSports AcadArena. At the same time, participating organizations can have their own professional gaming teams compete in various Summer Quarter 2020 tournaments, more particularly the Alliance League and the Mobile Legends National Cup.

Alliance League

Under AcadArena's Alliance program, ten student organizations that wish to explore campus eSports are given hands-on training and infrastructure support so they can participate in the inaugural season of the Alliance League featuring League of Legends (LoL) and Hearthstone. The season runs every Saturday until August 29 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm with the semi-finals taking place on September 12 and 13 followed by the finals to be held on September 19. The LoL tournament sees two groups of five in a round-robin setting where the top two groups of each will advance to the best-of-five series semifinals while the Hearthstone tilt utilizes a 16-player elimination bracket. Mobile Legends National Cup

There's a lot at stake at the AcadArena Mobile Legends National Cup as it serves as the official Philippine qualifier for the 2020 PvP eSports Collegiate Championship, a regional eSports tournament presented by Globe's partner telco SingTel. The qualifier rounds of the multi-stage National Cup runs every Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm until August 16 with the playoffs happening on August 23. The winning team will represent the Philippines to compete in the 2020 PvP eSports Collegiate Championship finals against teams from other Southeast Asian countries on September 7.
