Initially launched in 2005 in Guam, Japan and USA, GMA Pinoy TV started out as a tremendous success especially in Northern California where the network's partner-carrier Comcast recorded the highest call volume within 48 hours after its launch and generated the highest customer sales in its first 30 days within the San Francisco Bay Area. On the other hand, GMA Pinoy TV made its way towards US Mainland and Hawaii via DirecTV, opening its doors to millions of Filipino-Americans who clamor for the finest Kapuso programming. In 2008, GMA Pinoy TV was launched in the Middle East and Europe via Orbit Showtime Network (OSN) as an extension of GMA Network's global presence. On the same year, GMA Network introduced its second international channel, GMA Life TV, followed by GMA News TV International three years later. Fifteen years later, GMA Network's international channels is now available in 104 countries across different territories across the globe.
The network has also been instrumental in bringing Filipino communities closer together through exciting events that allowed Filipinos to bond with their favorite stars from well-loved Kapuso programs. Every year, various Kapuso artists have brought to cheer to Filipino audiences in different countries and were even all-out whether it be singing or dancing, comedy or drama, playing basketball or feasting over scrumptious Filipino dishes. Some of the sought-after Kapuso artists who added excitement to these events were Eat Bulaga's 'dabarkads', the phenomenal AlDub (Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza) tandem, the cast of Encantadia, and Willie Revillame and the Wowowin gang among other talented personalities.
In addition to its strong lineup of programming and events, GMA Pinoy TV has also produced innovative content and creative marketing campaigns that have earned the nod of several award-giving bodies through the years. Aside from the four silver medals at the 20th Communicator Awards in 2014, GMA Pinoy TV has consistently reaped awards from the New York-based National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) Excellence In Multi-Cultural Marketing Awards (EMMA) and became the only Philippine network to be inducted in NAMIC's EMMA Wall Of Distinction not once, but twice in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
