More and more people are delving themselves into the world of gaming considering that it is one of the few ways for them to keep themselves entertained in the toughest challenge the world is facing right now and eventually show their competitive side. The good thing about gaming is that there are countless things for us to try and enjoy including consoles, video game titles and game modes among others. The arrival of 5G technology in Philippine shores, which pretty much headlines an intriguingly prosperous and challenging year for the local tech scene, would open up a bigger realm of possibilities for gaming.

As the country's pioneer in 5G service, Globe Telecom ushers in a new generation of gaming for everyone with its promise of lower latency and lightning-fast speeds. The premiere purveyor of the Filipino digital lifestyle experience was able to showcase the offers and benefits of Globe 5G in gaming through the telco's Holi-Games Showcase, the third episode of Globe's #ChristmasWeLove Live Pop-Up hosted by celebrity couple Mikael Daez and Megan Young. Among these that were discussed are cloud gaming, virtual reality, augmented reality (AR) technology and Globe's special League Of Legends: Wild Rift offers.

During the showcase, Mikael and Megan played a game of King Of Fighters XIII on the Gameloft Stream powered by Blacknut Cloud Gaming and Globe 5G in order to showcase how amazing cloud gaming can be and eventually gave virtual reality a try using the Globe VR cardboard and pointed out at how lifelike and real the experience was because of how it smoothly follows the movement of the head without any delay. Meanwhile, the much-awaited Niantic AR trailer featuring the upcoming game Codename: Urban Legends was shown during the showcase and the two personalities have already expressed their excitement considering that they are fans of the hit AR mobile game Pokemon Go.

With cloud gaming, you can enjoy a wide array of games without the need to buy a console or a gaming PC and even if your friends competing with you are each other. On the other hand, VR provides a more immersive and dynamic experience to the game which brings players to different worlds beyond their limited space given the current situation. Through the Niantic Planet-Scale AR Alliance which Globe happens to be its only member in Southeast Asia, exclusive 5G-ready AR content will be made available and consumer AR experiences that are slated to set the standard for what innovation means in a 5G-powered world will be demonstrated.

Through its partnership with Riot Games Southeast Asia, Globe launched special data offers where gaming-centric mobile and broadband subscribers can enjoy the League of Legends: Wild Rift experience on their devices. These include GoSURF with free GoWatch and GoPlay, GG30, GG50 and the GoPLAY10 booster which can be registered via the GlobeOne app. Speaking of Wild Rift, Mikael and Megan battled against each other in an intense and fun matchup with Team Liyab. In the end, Megan ultimately got the victory and donated Php50,000 to Smile Train Philippines.
