The Philippine eSports Organization (PESO), ths National Sports Association (NSA) for professional gaming in the Philippines officially recognized by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), has formally forged a partnership with Pillar Digital eCommerce Inc., the parent company of Mineski Philippines, which led to the accreditation of Mineski's Youth eSports Program (YEP) as one of the former's flagship activities for 2021 to promote the growth of eSports among its local stakeholders.
An initiative of Mineski and the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL), YEP promotes responsible gaming among young people and brings co-curricular eSports activities to schools. The program also recognizes chapter organizations within universities, organizes the National Interschool Cyber League (NICL), and hosts a series of talks for program chapters to come together to compete, learn and have fun within the program. As one of PESO's key programs for 2021, the association will promote YEP as a training program for future eSports athletes, introducing and promoting it to schools that might want to formally join the program.
YEP will also be endorsed to the International eSports Federation (IeSF) as an example of a commendable eSports program for the youth. Meanwhile, Mineski will assist PESO member organizations in tapping YEP member schools to promote their future events and activities and collaborate with each other for joint eSports initiatives. To date, YEP has a network of more than 200 schools, colleges and universities across different parts of the country which means that its wider reach may present new opportunities in eSports. Beyond organizing tournaments, YEP regularly engages its members on relevant topics and issues regarding the professional gaming scene. YEP also aims to engage schools in integrating eSports into the curriculum, from establishing varsity teams to introducing eSports-related courses.
